The Ninth r/AceAttorney Case Maker Contest

    Posted: 31 Aug 2021 03:30 PM PDT

A new quarter of the year means a new contest!

Similar to those recent contests, your task, as always, is to write up an Ace Attorney case where a noun I supply below is an important part of the case. After the deadline passes (see below), submissions will no longer be taken and the community will vote for submissions in a Google Form. The top three submissions will move to the second round and community members will vote on which will win first, second, and third place. The prizes for those respective places are:

1st Place: 5 credits of Reddit Gold

2nd Place: 3 credits of Reddit Gold

3rd Place: 1 credit of Reddit Gold

In the comments, I will make a post that will give a template of what your submission should look like. If possible, please fill in all the sections in the template, including N/A if needed.

Regarding the description area, feel free to be descriptive as possible! If you fear the post is too long, you may post the description over several comments or through another source such as Pastebin or Google Docs. There is no word limit, so please do not worry about such.

The comment I'll supply below, feel free to reply to it in regards to questions or general discussion. The rest of the thread is for submissions only.

And remember, don't hold back your creativity! Your case can be a standard AA case, it can be a reminiscence case, or an Investigations-styled case! However, there are some limitations.

Firstly, your case shouldn't involve any topics of sexual abuse of any kind. If your case does involve so, you're disqualified. Overly gory cases are allowed, but make sure there's a reason for that, and don't have it be gory just for the sake of being so. You won't be disqualified, but you may lose some credibility points. Also, joke posts are allowed, but only ones that are well-thought out, clever, and/or high-quality. Anything like "ThE PHoEnIX wiRIGHT TUnraBOOT: sOMEONE DIED aND phEENIX HAd TO dFEENdED THem!!!1!" is not allowed.

Other than those limitations; don't hold your creativity back!

The noun for this contest is: Potato

The deadline for this contest is Monday, September 21, 11:59 PM EST. This gives entrants three weeks to plan and write their cases.

    Good luck, and good cases!

So I made these for absolutely no reason

No, this is not recency bias... The Great Ace Attorney Soundtrack absolutely slaps, and it's the best OST of the series.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 11:51 AM PDT

Starting with the Main Menu theme... to The Great Cross Examination (particularly, allegro) theme, Joint Reasoning themes, the various character themes (I'm looking at you Shamspeare & Dreber), the Objection and Pursuit themes. All I can say is... wow.

They also added some creativity with themes not previously seen in other titles. An Overture to Pursuit theme, and an Omen theme, for example. We've previously not seen music for these parts of a trial, I thought they were great additions.

Oh, lets also talk about the different variations of Kazuma's music, and how they are all absolutely beautiful pieces? Such as his Revived Prosecutor theme.

And Parters ~ The Game is Afoot... this almost made me cry for some reason? So good!

I just can't get enough of the whole soundtrack. I heard they had a smaller budget with Resolve, so they weren't able to commit as much resources to the OST. Even in light of this, they absolutely nailed it.

Historically, as I've played all the games, I've always felt that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney had the best soundtrack. Maybe it was a nostalgia thing. Can't beat the classics, I suppose? However, there is no doubt about it... The Great Ace Attorney absolutely blows all the other OSTs out of the water. Hats off to the team that put it together.

Which character in the Great Ace Attorney:Chronicles did you end up liking a lot more than you thought you would?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:27 PM PDT

For me, it was Daley Vigil. At first glance from his photo, he seems quite boring, with the game even stating he has "no distinctive features." However, once he's revealed to be Gossip/Hugh Boone and his whole story comes out, he becomes a very sympathetic and interesting character and one who I found to be quite endearing. His testimony with Barry Caidin in the last case is very entertaining, plus I love his "prison guard" theme music.

[Poll] How do you play AA games? Do you reload a save every time you get penalized? Or do you take the hits?

They really need to do something about all these ‘witnesses’ in these games that just blatantly lie to the court for like 20 mins straight. They should all be charged for perjury.

Now that I've had a couple weeks to stew on The Great Ace Attorney's cases, I've finally compiled a tier list of them. What do you think? Happy to explain my reasonings as best I can in the comments.

I'm so glad I finally found a community that loves the AA franchise as much as I do. I want to take a moment to thank the mods and the redditors on this sub. I've felt right at home here, and this has been one of the best communities I've been a part of.
