Barok Van Zieks Total glass destruction count

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 12:41 PM PDT

Recently finished Chronicles, which are in my opinion the best games in the series. The soundtrack is phenomenal, and Van Zieks is among my favorite prosecutors. With that said, I decided to start a tally of shattered wine glasses/bottles after seeing him smash a second glass within minutes of the first. When you examine the wine display in his office, he tells Naruhodo that he brings 7 glasses to each trial which actually lines up fairly well across the number of cases he is the prosecutor for.

    GAA1:

    Bottles thrown - 3

Glasses smashed - 19 (including 1 in escapade)

    GAA2:

    Bottles Thrown - 6

    Glasses smashed - 19

Can you really blame Sholmes? [TGAAC SPOILERS]

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 04:51 PM PDT

People think he's crazy for bringing up the idea of an anti-gravity device, but he lives with a genius 10 year old who invented a hologram projector in the N-I-N-E-T-E-E-N-T-H C-E-N-T-U-R-Y. If you were in his shoes, you'd probably also start feeling like anything is possible.

    Van Zieks' style of prosecuting

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 08:11 AM PDT

I just finished TGAA2--what an amazing storyline. I was really emotional throughout the entire thing. I have so much I want to comment on, but I wanted to start by saying how much I loved the way Van Zieks prosecutes in both games. Clearly the man has deep character flaws, but I want to bracket that for the moment just to talk about his prosecutorial style.

His arguments were always very methodical and logical. There were no gimmicks or tricks (like suspiciously updated autopsy reports!). His comments were so clear and elegantly composed I found them very intellectually appealing. I often felt myself agreeing with his analysis of facts. Add to this his aggressive commitment to hunting the truth--even when it undermines his own case--I really began to respect him as a prosecutor. A great example of this is during the "The Adventure of the Clouded Kokoro" when Ryu presses for Joan Garrideb to testify. She attempts to duck the obligation and Van Zieks very authoritatively puts a stop to that

Aesthetically, the character is a feast for the eyes in many ways (the rich, gothic styles, the impossibly handsome face, the flying chalices) but what really drew me in and fascinated me was the acuity of his mind. So when he confidently stated he was no "puppet" of Scotland yard, I believed him.

    [5-3 spoilers] What if...

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 10:53 PM PDT

What if Kristoph Gavin was also a student at Themis Legal Academy like Klavier and studied under Aristotle Means?

It would make sense if he was influenced by Aristotle Means' "End justifies means" idealogy and started using dirty tactics in the court, while Klavier was influenced by Constance Courte's idealogy to only chase the truth instead of chasing the 'guilty' or 'not guity' verdict.
