Just realized that Spirit Mediums can be used as fax machines Posted: 15 Aug 2021 06:47 PM PDT While I was laying down in bed, I realized that Spirit Mediums can be used as phones. Like, someone can write a note, channel some dead person to read it, then another Spirit Medium somewhere else can channel the same dead guy again to say what was written in the note. They can be fax machines that use no energy to use, they don't need a signal or connection, but are extremely clunky to use. [link] [comments]
Clearing up two misconceptions about Turnabout Storyteller Posted: 15 Aug 2021 05:30 PM PDT I haven't exactly made it a secret over the last few years that I love Turnabout Storyteller, the fourth episode in Spirit of Justice. I love the case, and I love talking about it. There are two things, however, which I see come up a lot when discussing this case. Two points of confusion, specifically, and I'd like to try and clear them up. First: Geiru Toneido's relationship with the victim, Taifu Toneido. I have to admit that I'm kinda baffled by how often I see this mistake made, so let me clear up straight away: Taifu was not Geiru's father. I'm... not really sure of how or why so many people have come to believe that Taifu was Geiru's father, but I see this error a lot. Taifu Toneido was the head of a rakugo theatre, and was a mentor to numerous performers, all of whom took on stage names sharing his surname, "Toneido". The ones we meet are Geiru and Uendo. Neither of them are related to Taifu. Like "Zak and Valant Gramarye", they just take on his stage name. As for Geiru's father:
Geiru's father (who died at some unspecified point before this episode) was a rakugo performer studying under Taifu, and was the previous person to bear the stage name "Uendo Toneido" before the one we meet. Second misconception: Geiru's motive is "petty". I see this a lot as well, with people complaining that Geiru is unsympathetic because she killed Taifu (who these complaints again often mistakenly think is her father) for giving someone else her late father's stage name of "Uendo Toneido". This is more of a culture clash problem than anything else. In Japan, performer stage names are an extremely serious thing. There are performers active today who have stage names that have been passed down through their families for centuries. Geiru has spent her entire professional career preparing to have her father's title passed down to her. It's all she has lived for ever since joining the Toneido School. Now, her mentor Taifu himself had a bit of an unfortunate quirk - it's shown that he was very bad at communicating to his disciples what he thought was best for them. We're told that he felt Geiru shouldn't feel obligated to follow her father's path as a rakugo performer, and that he wanted her to leave the rakugo theatre and find whatever other career would make her happy - whatever she was really passionate about doing. Unfortunately, this is where that character flaw comes in. Instead of telling her this, Taifu directed her to take up balloon art as a career instead, hoping that simply trying something else would lead to Geiru learning the lesson he intended for her, finding that rakugo wasn't what she wanted to spend her entire future doing. This did not work. Geiru instead spent years still believing that Taifu intended to pass her father's title down to her, it being her birthright. So what happens then? Taifu gives a completely different pupil of his the title, and does nothing to explain to Geiru why he stole her birthright away from her like that. Geiru has spent her entire life up to this point working toward making herself worthy of taking on her late father's stage name, and her mentor just tears it away from her and gives it to someone else - someone not even in her family, at that - with no explanation. It's hard to convey how incredibly grave an insult that would be. [link] [comments]
What settings do you want to see in future games? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:14 PM PDT Ace Attorney has gone through many different settings. For me, I'd like to see:

Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:19 PM PDT I played Adventures back in the Scarlett Study days, and I was not impressed with it. I'd say it is a bottom 3 game. Up until Chronicles came out there was not a lot of receptiveness for not liking DGS, I think it was due to their elisuveness and being Takumi games. But since Chronicles I've seen people struggling to get through Adventures, and not liking it has become more in vogue, but I think there are still a lot of people in a honeymoon phase with it. I just wanted you to know that Resolve is easily top 3 in the series. While it does not redeem Adventures in my mind, it is still worth powering through Adventures because Resolve is just that good. Everyone go check out Tyrion Cuthbert! Posted: 15 Aug 2021 05:16 PM PDT Just a little PSA, a courtroom sim visual novel similar to Ace Attorney is being crowdfunded on indiegogo and needs a lot of love. It's called Tyrion Cuthbert: Attorney of the Arcane. I don't know much about it but the demo was really good and it looks like it has huge potential. Everyone should go check it out and maybe swing a few bucks their way :) https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/attorney-of-the-arcane-courtroom-visual-novel/#/ [link] [comments]
Does anyone else feel like this is absolutely incredible? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:42 PM PDT Playing for the first time on my Switch, currently on chapter 4 of game 1. I wanna keep this post/thread spoiler-free so I won't go into detail, but-- This is insane! Like just on a mechanical level alone, and also how those mechanics affect the themes and the quality of the writing, this is several orders of magnitude ahead of any other game in the entire franchise. And I say that as someone who was already a superfan of the franchise from the start. And I don't think the character design has been quite this legit since AJ. And the writing is an absolute joy, and specifically the courtroom writing has never been this good I don't think. Like I'm completely being blown away right now. My favorite installments up to now have been AJ because it's the best one, and SoJ because it's wild how much that one was made for me specifically. But if I try to speak objectively about the series, and compare DGS/GAA with any other games, it's really not even close. If I had any idea I would've made more of an effort to try to get the fan translation running in an emulator before this release! I really hope THIS is the new standard we have to look forward to when Capcom finally makes us another one. [link] [comments]
In GAA2-2, there seems to be a meta joke involving a snowman Posted: 15 Aug 2021 02:54 PM PDT While examining a snowman with three sections, the following dialogue occurs. Ryunosuke: "Why has somebody built this snowman on some sort of pedestal, do you think?" Susato: "That's not a pedestal, Mr. Naruhodo. That's part of the snowman's body." Ryunosuke: "Really? But it already has a perfectly good body." Susato: "Well, it's true that British snowmen are usually made with two balls of snow. Perhaps this is a foreigner." Ryunosuke: "And now we're looking at him as if he's strange. Poor man. I know how he feels." Susato: "If anything, it's Japanese and British two-ball snowmen that are the strange ones, isn't it? After all, real people do have three sections: head, torso and legs." Ryunosuke: "...Do you ever think that perhaps you think about things too much?" I'm convinced that whoever wrote that last line, whether it was a member of the localization team or the original writing staff, found themselves trying to write well-researched, period-appropriate dialogue to justify the technically anachronistic snowman that someone in the art department had drawn. This writer got to the end of the dialogue and thought, "Guys, we might be seriously overthinking the snowman dialogue." [link] [comments]

Posted: 15 Aug 2021 11:33 PM PDT Back in October 2017, Nintendo Dream featured a multi-part interview with The Great Ace Attorney 2's writer and director Shu Takumi, art director Kazuya Nuri, and producer Motohide Eshiro. TGAA/2: Wasted potential character Posted: 15 Aug 2021 01:15 PM PDT So - after all the hype in TGAA1-2 for Vilen Borshevik, we only ever get to see him again as a juror in 1-5. And there, I was expecting some kind of madness because he got himself on the jury for some reason, especially when the government secrets came out, and then ... nothing. He just goes away and isn't a thing in TGAA2 at all. What happened there? Can anyone think of a potential villain that was wasted like this in the AA series? At least even Redd White actually goes down in a trial. [link] [comments] |
