The Seventh r/AceAttorney Case Maker Contest Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:00 AM PST It's a new year and a new season, so it's time for a new contest. As with the most recent contest and the others previously set, your task is to write up an Ace Attorney case where a noun I supply below is an important part of the case. After the deadline passes (see below), submissions will no longer be taken and the community will vote for submissions in a Google Form. The top three submissions will move to the second round and community members will vote on which will win first, second, and third place. The prizes for those respective places are: 1st Place: 5 credits of Reddit Gold 2nd Place: 3 credits of Reddit Gold 3rd Place: 1 credit of Reddit Gold In the comments, I will make a post that will give a template of what your submission should look like. If possible, please fill in all the sections in the template, including N/A if needed. Regarding the description area, feel free to be descriptive as possible! If you fear the post is too long, you may post the description over several comments or through another source such as Pastebin or Google Docs. There is no word limit, so please do not worry about such. The comment I'll supply below, feel free to reply to it in regards to questions or general discussion. The rest of the thread is for submissions only. And remember, don't hold back your creativity! Your case can be a standard AA case, it can be a reminiscence case, or an Investigations-styled case! However, there are some limitations. Firstly, your case shouldn't involve any topics of sexual abuse of any kind. If your case does involve so, you're disqualified. Overly gory cases are allowed, but make sure there's a reason for that, and not have it be gory just for the sake of being so. You won't be disqualified, but you may lose some credibility points. Also, joke posts are allowed, but only ones that are well-thought out, clever, and/or high-quality. Anything like "ThE PHoEnIX wiRIGHT TUnraBOOT: sOMEONE DIED aND phEENIX HAd TO dFEENdED THem!!!1!" is not allowed. Other than those limitations; don't hold your creativity back! The noun for this contest is: Refrigerator The deadline for this contest is: Monday, March 22, 11:59 PM EST. This gives entrants three weeks to plan and write their cases. Thank you for reading - let the games begin! [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Mar 2021 05:26 PM PST Currently at PL vs PW, and with AAI 1 and 2 fresh in my mind, I can't help but feel more sympathetic to the prosecution side. Anyone have any objections? :) (And yes, I know, this isn't really a team thing, but I'm very curious to see people's reasons for being more sympathetic with one side or other (or even neither).) Attempt at Ace Attorney City Map (Tokyo-Japanese Version) Posted: 01 Mar 2021 03:15 PM PST Just like u/al_fletcher did with a Los Angeles city version of the Ace Attorney series ( https://www.reddit.com/r/AceAttorney/comments/lugqnx/link_in_comments_after_a_couple_of_sleepless/ ), I've been working on a Tokyo version of it following the Japanese version. It's a work in progress though and the placements aren't perfect, so feel free to help or correct me if you think some elements should be anywhere else on the map. For the placement, I tried to match the locations with possible real counterparts and I tried to respect the time laps provided in game. City Map : https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=193MJ8movvgK467OZsVHWYpvoIN9-lNdJ&usp=sharing Maps from the games : https://aceattorney.fandom.com/wiki/List_of_Ace_Attorney_maps - For the central part of town, I chose to put Gatewater Imperial Hotel (said to be in the center of city in the games) where the Imperial Hotel is, near the Imperial Palace, the heart of Tokyo. Next to it is the District Court, where the Supreme Court is, and the Police Department where the Metropolitan Police Department of Tokyo is. I felt those placement where logical, being next to each other. For the Exposé Park, I tried to put it near the Police Department, so where Hibiya Park is. It's said to be near the department, so the police could come there within less than ten minutes (counting extra times such as preparing and parking the car). - For the Prosecutor's Office, it had to be around 30 minutes away from the Police Department. The only real Prosecutor's Office within that time lapse is the one from the Sumida Branch (22 min away, more or less). Counting the extra time, it would take the 30 minutes needed. - The GYAXA Cosmos Space Center is where its real counterpart, JAXA Space Center, is. Plus, GYAXA is in a less-packed area, just like JAXA, with the mountains such as Moun Tsukuba, in the distance. - Gatewater Land, being a huge amusement park with various themed section, felt like it could be where Tokyo Disneyland is. Next to it, is Rinkai Park, with a Big Wheel, a forest and some lakes, just like Sprocket Park. - The Gourd Lake area is where the only other "big enough" lake area of Tokyo is, and it's in Ueno Park. I guess a little private plane could lands in there. - Ivy University, where characters such as Phoenix, Dahlia or even Wesley studied, felt like a very knowned university of AA Tokyo. So I put it where Tokyo main university, The University of Tokyo, is. For the record, it has a Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. - Themis Legal Academy, being as great as an high school as it is, minus all that grades scheme going on in there, felt like it should be where one of the best high school of Japan (if not the best) is, so I put it where Kokusai High School is. - The placement of Hope Springs Airport was quiet simple, because the only airport "within" Tokyo is the Haneda Airport, so that goes there. - I placed Shipshape Aquarium where Shinegawa Aquarium is. It is one of the well-knowned aquariums of Tokyo and its location, near the bay, a bit away from the buildings, were a more suited location. - Kurain Village and Mount Mitami needeed to be around 2 hours away from Tokyo by train and next to the sea (as seen in Spirit of Justice), so I put it south of Mount Fuji. For Eagle Mountain, that was much more closer, being only 2 hours away by car and next to a river, so I placed it near Mount Yakiyama, Doshi River and a shinto sanctuary. Nine-Tails Vale was a little bit closer from the city (apparently 1 hours and a few minutes, when looking at the time difference from being at the Wright Anything Agency and arriving at NTV, in Dual Destinies), so I put it around there, with Tenma Town being its neighbour town. - The Detention Center was placed where the real Tokyo Detention House is. - I placed Zodiac Art Gallery where Tokyo Metropolitain Tein Art Museum is because I felt like it being previously a residence for Prince Asaka Yasuhiko resonated with ZAG being Master's residence. It also features glass work by René Lalique, a french sculpture, which sounded quite similar with our Zodiac Art Gallery. Plus, the time laps Gregory take when travelling from the Detention House to there is a little less than an hour, which kind of work with Tein Art Museum and Tokyo Detention House being around 40-50 min apart, by car. - Global Studios is where Toei Movie Studios is. The Japanese name of Global Studios is "Eito" which is a reference to Toei and that company is knowed for its work with movies, animations and even live actions, such as Super Sentai shows. Those shows clearly inspired the Global Studios shows, with kaiju creatures and such. - The Grand Tower area felt like the Minato District, with Grand Tower being very similar to Roppongi Hills, having a plaza and a 54-story skyscraper. So I placed everything else from the Grand Tower map based on that area, Sunshine Harbor and Sunshine Warehouses being Hinode Pier and Warehouses, Shunshine Coliseum where Seavance Hall is, Twilight Station being Roppongi Station, Rising Sun Park being the big park next to Tokyo Tower, Earl Bright City Hall, next to it, Prime Mall where Roppongi Hills Store is and tried to match the rest. - Bluecorp went in a tall business building that felt very modern, near the Minato Pier. Berry Big Circus (being a touring tent like most circus) went in a small green area near Tamachi Station, close to the Sunshine Warehouses, in reflection with the events of The Grand Turnabout (AAI2 Case 5). Penrose Theater was placed near New Pier Hall, a event hall, with Takeshiba Pier, providing a plaza kind of place. - Hickfield Clinic (having the same "skin" as Hotti Clinic and the same sprite as the hospital referred to as "General Hospital", which make me feel like it was intended to be the same location) felt like it was the main clinic in the city, having lots of people being taken there, from people like Phoenix to huge stars like Lamiroir, so I placed it where St.Luke's Internation Hospital is. - The Cohdopian Embassy is where the Czech Embassy is. Plus, that embassy has in real life a theater, "Czech Centre Tokyo", just like the cohdopian embassy with Theatrum Neutralis. - Lordly Tailor is where Ginza Six, one of the main luxury shopping mall of Tokyo, is. KB Secutity is placed where Secom, a worlwide japanese company, HQ are. The two locations are said to be half an hour apart (though, Phoenix implied that maybe it wasn't really true when he said "According to Larry...") but let's say it's kinda true. When looking at the true time lapse, it takes 20 min by car. If we add the extra time, it surely take around 30 min to travel to. - Kurukuru Tei (Rakugo School) is in the area of Rakugo Cafe. - The Take-2 TV Tower is where NTV Tower is, NTV being one of the biggest (if not the biggest) broadcasting companies, of Japan. With Retinz being as rich as he is, it felt right for him to own that kind of company. - Blue Screens, Inc. went where Globee, a japanese software company, is. Vitamin Square is placed where Iiukura Park is and Très Bien is just next to it, in the exact same place of a real french restaurant named L'Aube. Tender Lender was placed across the Park. - For the Wright Anything Agency area, I needeed a location with a park and a semi-traditional looking construction (People Park and Kitaki Manor), with a bridge, and a small river. I went and placed that area in the Shinegawa district, a less building-filled district, where Kodomonomori Park and Tokaji Temple where. Following the map given in the games, I then tried to fill up the rest. For Borscht Bowl Club, I thought that it would be across the bridge next to People Park, meaning Phoenix was going there when he was hit by a car (4-2). [link] [comments]
Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:25 PM PST I would choose Son Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball in this situation cause they know when to lower the stakes when they see it. I could imagine Wright being Goku's closest ally given the similarities to each other and their careers overall. Phoenix Wright and Athena Cykes manage to find the real culprit, but he/she plots a massive getaway as a fugitive. But then Wright presses a secret "out-of-universe" button and Goku goes into court, beats him/her in one punch and taking him/her to custody. What is yours and why? [link] [comments]

How I feel about case 1-5 (spoilers obviously) Posted: 01 Mar 2021 03:57 PM PST I just wrote this in a comment thread for another post, and I thought I would just share it so then more people could possibly see it. I like sharing my opinions. I'll start off with what I like. For one, Gant is very intimidating. He's probably the best part of the case. His introduction is one of the scariest moments in all of aa for me. Also, the ending was very nice. It was wholesome. Those are the good points I can think of regarding the case right now. And I have a good few problems with the case. Yes, the length is a bit of an issue, but I can enjoy a long case. The characters are pretty uninteresting to me. Ema just feels like "Maya but science," and that makes her boring to me. Meekins is honestly a bit annoying. Lana is alright. Marshall is pretty cool. Him and Gant are probably my favorites from this case. Angel is one of the worst witnesses in the series from what I've seen. Her lies are some of the most inconvenient and annoying that I've seen. Now onto the actual case. The case feels like if 1-4 was horribly paced. The majority of the case is spent trying to figure out the other case relating to Ema and Lana and Gant, and it just wasn't satisfying. All of the 2nd investigation and trial is spent trying to figure out a 2nd murder that never happened and it was a huge waste of time, and that annoyed me. And there was this one part of the final trial day where I needed to present evidence, and I went to present the actual piece of evidence, but I couldn't, and I needed to present the picture of it instead, which was honestly infuriating. The actual takedown isn't that satisfying either. However that one Gant Sprite where it looks like he's being electrocuted is one of my favorite sprites in all of aa. Overall, the case wastes a good bit of my time, most of the characters are boring to annoying, and it was just tedious. Tedious and annoying are the two words I'd use to describe the case. Sorry for rambling, but I wanted to make sure I was understood. [link] [comments] |
