The Three Fundamentals of Ace Attorney

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 06:51 AM PDT

    1. The murder weapon was not the murder weapon
    2. The actual murder took place before the murder
    3. The murder occurred somewhere else

extra: If the killer's name is written in blood, it's not them

I love crossovers and I've been on a harry potter kick so obviously I've been thinking about which character would be in what house (general series spoilers in discussion probably)

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 11:48 PM PDT

I find a lot of them a bit difficult to place, like they could go in one or the other for various reasons and some I had a bit of a hard time nailing down.

    A few I'm confident in -

    • Mia Fey - Slytherin. She got a whole ass career change to find and/or avenger her mother and took on a man everyone else was piss scared of.
    • Dahlia Hawthorne - Slytherin. She seems more like the stereotypical bad guy Slytherin, completely self-serving in her schemes.
    • Kristoph Gavin - Ravenclaw. His attitude gives me the impression he's very elitist with regards to intelligence,>! obviously considering his whole "keep the riffraff out of the court" nonsense!<
    • Simon Blackquill - Gryffindor. The whole taking the fall for Metis's murder and going to jail until straight up the day before your execution in order to catch the real killer is ballsy af and you can't convince me otherwise
    • Aurora Blackquill - Gryffindor. Basically same reason as above but instead committing and actual crime to save her brother.

Anywho, all fun and games. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

What's your favorite Telling The Truth theme?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 11:29 PM PDT

Here's my opinion on Telling The Truth Themes:

    1. Announce The Truth 2002 (this theme always made me tense and with the objections it was amazing and it is still amazing i think.)

    1. Confess The Truth 2009 (this theme is so good to be thrown at 2nd place so, here we go.)

    2. Telling the Truth (English Court)

    3. Telling The Truth 2004

Bonus Song: Confess The Truth 2011

Which port of Apollo Justice is best?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 03:26 PM PDT

So I just finished Trials and Tribulations and I'm already ready to play the next game. But which port should I play, the 3DS one or the Android one? I'm not sure if they're the same game, or if one port is better than the other or what. I'm leaning more towards the Android port, but I'm just curious if it matters at all.

    About Damon Gant's theme.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 10:39 AM PDT

I remember, that when his theme played in "Day 2 — Investigation",I suddenly lost my concentration, and almost suffered from a migraine. But interestingly,it wasn't so bad when "Swimming,Anyone?" played in the Trial section at first.

Friendly reminder that we have currently 5 Games featuring Maya. Coincidentally, we also have 5 Games where Maya is accused of murder. Huh.

    Favorite Defense Attorney?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 08:53 AM PDT

Armando and Grossberg are together because they are from the same Law and Co. Offices. (and because there was not enough space) Also didn't include Kristoph for the same reason. Aaaannnnddd also Raymond Shields... I guess you will have to choose your favorite between these, but if you prefer someone I didn't include feel free to write it in the comments!

My problem with the penalty of death

    Posted: 15 Oct 2020 09:24 AM PDT

I love Ace Attorney, I love the story, I love the characters, and I love the general suspense (and humor) the various games always offered. BUT there is one things I do have a problem with, and that would be... the penalty of death. Every culprit of the game that is judged guilty, gets a penalty of death, and while normally I'm fine with this happening to the culprits you unmask across the series (well, most of them), the thing I'm not fine with, is the fact that for the whole trials there is the life of an innocent person on the edge of a cliff, and the characters, the various witnesses, the defense, the prosecution, and even the judge for the most time joke about it, and honestly this just feels wrong.

And there is another problem I had that derivates from this whole penalty of death thing in a specific Case: at the end of the second case of the first game, Redd White ultimately gives up and confesses his crime after Mia gives to Phoenix the list of the people he blackmailed, threating him to publish that list publically, and that would have brought Redd White to bankruptcy. So in other words Redd White literally chosen death in order to.... not going bankrupt? Like seriously? That's not really good writing, if you ask me. At this point they just could have avoided that part and end the case after Redd White had his breakdown after he ran out of lies (if you remember he was about to be saved by Edgeworth who was about to ask another day of investigation in order to come up with some other excuse to win the cause. It was thanks to Mia that Phoenix got out of that mess. But it was this whole part that generated this whole messed up writing at the end of the day). This was done better in the final case of the second game (that was getting a Guilty or Not Guilty verdict, Matt Engarde would have died regardless. By being found Guilty at least he had a few years of life left in jail. That's better than dying in a few days at the hands of a professional assassin right?).

In short, the penalty of death makes some trials feeling wrong at times, and occasionally generates problems like the one I wrote above. Does anyone have this same problem with the penalty of death in the game?
