    Ace Attorney for a 13-year-old

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 09:11 PM PDT

Hey, so I've been wanting to play the Ace Attorney trilogy for a while, and I've seen some great videos about it, like discord debates and memes. But I've been questioning if it is okay for a 13-year-old to play it. What is its age rating? All of that stuff.

    (Sorry for bad English)

Big plot hole in Spirit of Justice? (Spoilers)

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 06:39 PM PDT

So, remember how in the last case of Spirit of Justice they solve everything by doing a Séance with Apollo's dead father, Jove Justice? It was thanks to Apollo that they finally knew his father's name and finally could do a Séance.

They didn't know Jove Justice's name because every lead to him burned up.

Dhurke was the one who found the photo (in order to perform a Divination Séance, a face and a full name is needed), and then everything was history.

    ...

...what if I told you that it was impossible for Apollo to know his father's name?

Let's start with the basics. At the time of his father's death, Apollo was a baby as seen in the Divination Séance. Dhurke saved Apollo and, right after that, the former started raising up the latter. Apollo can't just "remember" his father's name, not even his surname. Because he was a baby.

Apollo as a baby, the hand is Jove's.

Thalassa (Lamiroir, Apollo's mother), didn't recieve any help to find his son because of the chaos from Queen Amara's death, as explained in the game. Also, at the end of Spirit of Justice, Phoenix talks with Thalassa and Phoenix explicitly says she hasn't told anything to her son and daughter yet.

Link to Thalassa's conversation with Phoenix at the end of Spirit of Justice: https://youtu.be/Wi0WpZGMxso?t=1130

On the other hand, Dhurke didn't know Jove Justice's name. He only knew his stage name, "Jangly Justice".

Dhurke only knew his stage name.

Talking about this topic, I have to mention two counterarguments some of my friends made and refute both. The first one is that during Dhurke's investigation, he could have learned Dove's name. The second one is that even with the stage name, he did keep his surname, so Apollo could have just looked for it in an archive of names. To these two arguments, I have the same answer: Dhurke didn't tell ALMOST ANYTHING about Jove to Apollo until he finally returned to Khura'in in the game's events (see image below). He only knew the things in "Page 20" (one of the images from above), and never even knew Jove's stage name. Besides, Datz only mentions that Dhurke found the photo, not the name.

Apollo says he was never told more than what was in the \"Page 20\" file (one of the images from above) and the \"Page 1\" file (a file you can search up but doesn't contain anything relevant to the thing I'm discussing).

If you want to see the whole conversation about Apollo never been told more about his father, watch this: https://youtu.be/7szrFk2yFIU?t=756

If you want to see how Apollo reveals Jove's name in the trial, watch this: https://youtu.be/dDcMwGiNJ_A?t=2040

So, in short, Spirit of Justice's last case was solved thanks to information Apollo couldn't know. Or at least, that's the conclusion I have reached. If what I said is correct, I think it's a pretty serious plot hole considering how, again, everything was solved thanks to that Séance.

What do you think? Did I miss anything? Keep in mind that I only played the English version of the game, so it might be a translation mistake, or something. If you know something I missed, please leave me a comment. Thanks for you attention!

The unfortunate and sad thing for Franziska (2-4 spoilers)

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 07:50 AM PDT

Franziska's motivation in JFA is to defeat Phoenix. She fails twice as her only two (known) losses in court in 2-2 and 2-3.

In 2-4, Franziska is forced to let Edgeworth take over the case thanks to Shelly De Killer injuring here.

However, here is the funny thing about that that really sucks for Franny - 2-4 is the one case that she had the most hope of winning. The initial suspect in the case was indeed guilty - granted, of hiring an assassin, but guilty nonetheless. And in the end, the prosecution indeed won a guilty verdict, albeit through unconventional means.

That's really unlucky and honestly a bit sad for her if you think about it. Her best shot at beating Phoenix, her entire motivation in JFA, and also an extremely rare instance in this series of the initial suspect being guilty (at least in the trilogy), was stolen from underneath her.

Regarding the character known as "Max Galactica"

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 02:12 PM PDT

Hello, there was a reference in Ace Attorney: Justice for All that struck me when I first saw it many years ago, and I speak of the character Max Galactica.

I believe his name to be an esoteric reference. There are a couple layers to this reference, and if you aren't familiar with both of them, it's likely to go over your head. This character's name is a reference to Maximillion Galactica from the animated series Yu-Gi-Oh. Both characters are highly flamboyant, with similar facial structure and hair styles.

You may think this is merely a coincidence and not necessarily a reference, but the second layer is the clincher, and comes from the 2004 TV series Battlestar Galactica.)

In the show BSG, the ship Galactica ends up teaming up with another Battlestar, Pegasus.

Thusly, Maximillion Galactica -> Maximillion Pegasus, referencing both Yu-Gi-Oh and BSG concurrently.

This attorney, having presented his evidence, rests his case.

Why JFA is Considered the Weakest in the Original Trilogy?

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 12:28 PM PDT

I recently finished the first two Ace Attorney games and I think JFA is the best(I will start playing T&T soon), so I searched things about this game and for some reason people always thinks that JFA is the worst game in the original trilogy and overall a weak game in the series, but I really wanna know why. I think it´s because the Turnabout Big Top case, that´s often considered the worst case in the entire series(I think Lost Turnabout is worst, but okay), but I like this case, I can see why people don´t like it, but I think it´s pretty good. And right after this case we can play Farewell, My Turnabout, which is the best case that I played. If someone can tell me why this game gets this "hate", I would be very thankful.(sorry for possible bad english)

Something i don't understand about DGS case 2

    Posted: 08 Sep 2020 05:09 PM PDT

If the whole incident is an accident? Why did the crew conspire to drug all the ship travelers the evening before, as if they were wortking toward creating an alibi? because sure they locked the door by using the emmergency stop but no one notice because they drug them the evening before, but supposedly the accident should have never happen leaving the question of why did they drug the whole ship? No spoiler please I just want to know if I am right to think there is more to it or If it just a mistake in the case or did i miss something?.

Edit: Also it is strange to have a case without tribunal session. :/
