Dual Destinies: Positivity Thread Posted: 24 Mar 2020 08:10 PM PDT Despite it's flaws, Dual Destinies was one of my favourite game in the franchise. Anyone else? If so, why? I hope I'm not totally alone in this lmao [link] [comments]

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 1-3 square icons Posted: 24 Mar 2020 11:12 PM PDT I made these mainly because I couldn't find any good ones for the soundtracks I downloaded. They're really intended for album covers but I figure they can be used for anything really, so I guess I'll share them here. [link] [comments]

Posted: 24 Mar 2020 10:23 PM PDT What tragic villain do you want for Ace Attorney 7 and which attorney in Wright Anything Agency should face him or her against in trial? Mine would be Athena against someone who is mentally deficient and had lacked a conscience, who was under treatment by her mother and escaped after she was murdered. Apollo could join in as this he was the mastermind behind everything but for a very painful and heartbreaking reason. Enough for Athena to use her legal conscience to bring him down and restore his mental state. What's yours and why? [link] [comments]
The Case For and Against Voice Acting Posted: 24 Mar 2020 12:15 PM PDT When it comes to voice acting in video games, especially when it comes to content that hails from across the seas, the discussion of voice acting is very touchy to say the least. You've got to tackle the topics of sub vs dub, US voice acting or UK voice acting, and the big one whether you should have voice acting to begin with. For the Phoenix Wright franchise, voice acting from the beginning was merely relegated to fun one off burst speech bubbles that provide suprise and impact upon first listen. The courtroom gets quiet, the tension settles, the music ramps up, and then...OBJECTION! A voice like you've never heard before blares from your speakers and gives you a good suprise. Considering the first few entries in the series takes place on the Nintendo DS, hearing any kind of vocal performances is a rarity especially considering the limited hardware. For me, voice acting in a franchise that's 99% talking is a double edged sword. On one hand, if you can find the perfect people for the roles and they give it all theyve got come showtime, it can lead to a smash hit success and for people who hate to read, they can just listen along and enjoy their characters speaking performances without having to focus so hard on the exposition dumps of the text chat. On the other hand, if you dont stick the landing on performances, you run the risk of scaring folks away into wanting to play as they fear theyll have to listen to the low quality subpar voice acting throughout the whole adventure. Then again, if the game offers you the ability to turn the voice acting off then the egregiousness isnt so damning. You also have to consider the cost of voice acting. You would have to make language packs for just about every region that can get their hands on the series as most counties would prefer games to speak their native tongue. Voice actors in the video game industry are criminally underpaid so if Capcom were to bump up the language packs, while morally correct, could lead to a bit of a stretch in the budget department. For me personally, I love the idea of more voice acting, however I'd keep it to the rare one word blares. OBJECTION, HOLD IT, TAKE THAT, EUREKA, NOT SO FAST, OVERRULED! These are words that are just ingrained into my cranium as their timing upon impact is always a big suprise and perfectly fits the mood of the series. Having more voice acting on top of it would kinda diminish these cool blare moments. Dual Destinies was the first entry in the series to do alot of things, one of which having cute cutscene with full on voice acting. This is a very cool idea as these scenes can give you a good idea on how everyone is supposed to sound and then you can carry on with your cases and picture their performances as you play. Having cutscenes for me personally is a cool but unnecessary idea, take it or leave it I say. Quick side note- I'm not to sure how familiar everyone is with the Let's Dub Project channel on YouTube. These were the folks that introduced me to the idea of the series having full on voice overs for every character. I have only seen their Dual Destinies and Ace Attorney Investigations dubs and I must say, I have seen both the good and the bad when it comes to the acting. On one hand you get characters like the Judge who just sounds plain bad, on the other you have Dick Gumshoe, whose performance is so good he should be hired and used in future installments. What do you all think about voice acting in general? [link] [comments]
