Second game down. Took me about 19.5 hours to beat. This game had the highest highs (case 2 and especially 4) and some lowest lows (case 1 and especially 3). Still loved it. I loved the last case, definitely my favorite so far in the whole series. T&T here I come!

For anyone that wanted to see DGS 2 in English...

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 10:51 PM PST

For a while, there's been a Youtube walkthrough of DGS 2, which has been getting English translations (via captions) over time. As of last week, the entire game has been translated in English, for those who wanted to see it. I owe my gratitude to the translators of this amazing game. If you want to see a no commentary playthrough of the game, you should check it out! Here is the link to the translation. (remember to turn on captions)

Understanding the chain of corruption in the Ace Attorney timeline

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 10:06 PM PST

So most of the games tackle some kind of corrupt figure either in or manipulating the higher echelons of the legal and police force. Given that the original trilogy and AAIs are set pretty much one after the other (with barely a year in between and that's generous), it seems like there's a ton of layers of corruption happening all at once and I'm having trouble keeping it all straight.

There's Chief Prosecutor Blaise Debeste, responsible for scapegoating Manfred von Karma back in Miles Edgeworth's youth. Debeste doesn't get taken down by Edgeworth until adulthood, some time after the events of the original trilogy.

Yet earlier on in the trilogy Rise From The Ashes happens, and the Chief Prosecutor there is Lana Skye, installed by Chief of Police Damon Gant and acting under blackmail. Did Blaise quit the position and then rejoin after Lana?

And then there's Redd White, who'd apparently been blackmailing prominent people in the legal world, sparking a lot of corruption. Was he influencing Gant, Debeste, and/or Skye?

Also where does all the Yatagarasu stuff (with Calisto Yew especially) fit in?

It's my first time playing PWAA: Justice For All, and I just reached episode 3, Turnabout Big Top.

I know nothing about this case other than it has to do with the circus, and that it's considered by fans to be one of, if not, the worst Ace Attorney case ever.

So, I just wanted to ask, what am I getting myself into? What makes this case as notorious as it is? Is it a bad story? Bad puzzles? Plotholes? Do I have to align a vase to make it vaguely look like a badger!?

No spoilers please. Just give me some general reasons why this case is so notoriously bad? Or, if you disagree, tell me why this case is underrated!

Bit confused about something in 6-3

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 09:21 PM PST

So, replaying 6-3, I noticed that at no point the game tells you that Puhray Zeh'lot was the second victim until you actually start to investigate his case.

Maya gets the Guilty verdict, Nahyuta is about to close the book, then the bailiff comes in and says "a body" has been found. Before that, Zeh'lot (probably already dead) could be examined in the investigation segments, but Phoenix believes he's alive and just praying as per the rite. After the trial, Phoenix is already talking about "figuring out who killed Zeh'lot", as if it's something we already knew beforehand.

Did I miss something, or did Capcom really drop the ball here?

EDIT: changed the wording a bit - I'm not talking about the murder itself, I'm talking about the victim's identity and how Phoenix came to know about it without anyone announcing Zeh'lot's name

An actual question about validity of the path I took

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 11:57 AM PST

Would I be considered a black sheep for liking the Anime?

I have watched most of the trials from the games but for some reason, the Anime felt more alive than the games. I'm not saying the games were terrible, but I just liked the Anime and how things were in it. The trials felt more flowing, everyone seemed more expressive, and everyone seemed like they were less plastered to one spot with a restricted set of animations. Plus I personally liked it when people objected so hard it made a windstorm and I found a lot of the moments funny.

I really am curious about this. I'm sorry if I sound like a downer as well.

    Something I’ve been thinking about

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 08:28 AM PST

That how a lot of the big events of the first 3 games are indirectly caused by manfred von karma's murder of Gregory edgeworth

Miles becomes a lawyer which then leads to wright becoming a lawyer

Phoenix then Mets Mia because of the dahlia Hawthorne cases

Mia becomes a lawyer because of the DL 6 incident

Maya mother goes in to hiding and leaves her children at Kurain Village

Which then leads to Morgan feys plan in the reunion and turnabout

And they indirectly leads to the entire events of bridge to the turnabout

It then all comes together to lead to Manfred'a downfall

And probably another couple hundred events im forgetting

    Forced suspense in Ace Attorney

    Posted: 07 Jan 2020 08:07 AM PST

I feel like Ace Attorney has a lot of forced suspense. What I mean is that it feels like every 5 minutes you are placed into a tough or bad situation. And I wish there was a case where you had the upper hand the whole time.
