Why doesn’t Dhurke ever get much fanart?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:59 PM PST

Do people just not care about this guy that much anymore, or is it a case of "letting it go and moving on?" or maybe I'm just missing a little something?

(Not trying to sound negative. But I just haven't seen much artwork for this guy even though he's pretty much the most popular non-main defendant in the whole series... right?)

So, did Phoenix and Klavier talk before AA5? And also Klavier's naming thing.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 10:36 AM PST

They definitely talked, because Wright did show his badge to Klavier.
Of course, they had to talk because of the jury system, and how it all turned out, and both of them were "the famous lawyers" in 5-3 but did they actually talk about the, um, the conflict between them? So, is it resolved now? If so, why did Capcom hide this interaction from everyone?

Also, What's up with his naming system? In court, 17-year-old Klav called Wright "Herr Wright", "Herr attorney Wright", ""Ace attorney" Phoenix Wright","Herr Lawyer", but as of DD, Phoenix is suddenly "Mr. Wright"? Do you think maybe it's a respect thing? Age thing? Friendliness thing? Definitely not that, since he thought Wright was a pretty bad person..

Maybe I'm reading into it a bit too much, but it's an interesting detail nonetheless.

[Crossover] Introduction to the other (game)series/franchise

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 12:16 PM PST

I know it has been a long time since the crossover came out, the reason as to why I didn't post/ask this earlier is easy, it's because I am pretty shy about what people think about me.

But as for the point of this post, I wanted to ask the following, For me the crossover was an introduction to the Phoenix wright Ace Attorney games/franchise, what I want to say is it was a great introduction for me it caused me to buy the trilogy on my 3ds (I was still a little bit skeptical but it only confirmed how much I enjoyed it).

That should explain everything I wanted to tell (I hope) and I wanted to ask, is there anyone here who was introduced to the Professor Layton franchise/games and what you thought of it (as in: was it a good introduction, a bad one, made it you curious. and such.)

Been struggling with Phoenix's character in AJ. Can you help shed some light?

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 07:15 PM PST

HEY: I haven't yet played DD or SoJ, so please refrain from any spoilers. Thanks.

I finished Apollo Justice a while back and thought it was legitimately awesome, but recently I've been thinking a lot about the way Phoenix Wright is portrayed in it. I'm very conflicted.

On the one hand, there's the side of me that says "Phoenix would NEVER forge a bloody ace just to get Kristoph convicted! He may be disbarred, but he still has standards, right!? He's not the type to be driven by revenge so much that he breaks the law! That's just not part of his character description!"

On the other, I don't want to believe that the Ace Attorney writers steered foul. They've shown time and time again how smart they are, so why would they write him this way? Often times I find myself trying to justify Phoenix's behavior by saying "It's only natural that he's this way; Kristoph took everything he knew away from him, and it's very fitting that Phoenix did him in with forged evidence just like he did to him seven years ago! And Phoenix has been through so much that it makes total sense for him to be the way he is!"

For the record, I'm not very critical of the way he's written for his own trial in episode 4. I think that, by that point, he's experienced enough to be as confident as he is and that's not a problem. Mainly, it's the fact that he's seemingly driven by a vendetta against Kristoph and his forgery of evidence in the first case that drive me insane. I try to justify the way he's written, I really do, but it's hard. There are ways to defend it, but none of them sound quite right in my head. I just have a hard time believing that Phoenix would do any of these things.

I could understand the whole "driven by vengeance" aspect IF his methods for carrying out his revenge weren't so... unethical. It makes sense that he'd want to get back at Kristoph... but forging the bloody ace? Basically creating the MASON system to be biased against Kristoph? It just doesn't seem right. Why couldn't he have done so in a law-abiding way?

In my eyes, all of this would not be a problem if there were some kind of closure for his character in this respect. If, in the end, he learned and understood that his methods weren't lawful and he decided to retake the bar exam IN LIGHT of that, the issue would be fixed. That would be a character arc that I could seriously get into. But, no such ending exists. He basically shrugs his shoulders at all of it and says "Maybe I'll retake the bar exam."

Now, I am yet to play Dual Destinies and SoJ (so PLEASE no spoilers for either of them), and because of that, I don't know the whole story. Perhaps he does begin to understand that he was in the wrong after he becomes a lawyer once again (though I doubt it). That's something I'll need to discover for myself.

As you can see, I am conflicted. I legitimately would like for you to give your input. Do you think that Phoenix was just written poorly? Or do you think that his behavior throughout the game is justified? Please discuss and help me form an opinion on this, because I've been thinking about this a lot. Have a great day and thanks for listening to my humble request.
