What an absolutely ridiculous thing to suggest, there's no way that could ever happen

Pearl is so adorable, precious baby

I’m replaying the trilogy and I didn’t realize before but Godot’s a straight-up bad prosecutor. But maybe it’s intentional?

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 03:40 PM PDT

Godot is the worst prosecutor in terms of skill in all of the games I'd say (never played Apollo justice). Unlike Edgeworth and Franziska, he really doesn't propose alternate scenarios to explain phoenix's contradictions. He just says "where's your evidence?" which gets really annoying after a while. The witness basically always has to come up with the explanation themselves. It's especially annoying since they made Godot out to be the best prosecutor you've faced at the time. Maybe it's intentional because of his past as a defense attorney? Idk

Phoenix Wright takes place in a legal dystopia

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 11:47 PM PDT

Hey, I am a pre-law student at University. In one of my classes, we had to look at a piece of media and compare it's depiction of criminal justice system to the realistic one. Obviously, like much of popular media the Pheonix Wright games are not very realistic, but the world sorta exists in a sort of legal dystopia.

There are so many issues with the "bench-law" system (including corruption and high amount of wrongful convictions), there are many arrests without probable cause, evidence just appears in trial without discovery, and you do alot of extralegal snooping around crime scenes and tampering with evidence.

Is it just me or is this game trying to tell us something about the importance of proper criminal procedure? And does this game take place in a legal dystopia?

Sahdmadhi is now my favorite prosecutor

He has some of the best moments in just his first case, like his reply to receiving a business card, but he's so pure I love him.

Did Phoenix get his drivers license yet?

So, I just played the first case of Apollo Justice...

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 11:30 AM PDT

And WOW. I've heard plenty of mixed things about Apollo Justice, but that was a baller first case.

Prior to playing this game, I played all of the original trilogy and both of the Investigations games. Because of the time I spent playing Investigations, I hadn't seen Phoenix in a while; I knew going into the game that he had lost his badge, but it was definitely a shock to see just how confident and practiced he was. He basically had the entire case solved before it even started! His attitude sort of reminded me of Edgeworth; always a step ahead. I also greatly appreciated the small bits of dialogue between the Judge, Phoenix and Payne where they reminisced about the days of the original trilogy.

Apollo seems like a fun, charismatic protagonist as well. While it feels like the battle in this case was definitely between Phoenix and Kristoph Gavin (with Payne not even being a factor at all), I still thought Apollo had a few good moments and I'm looking forward to playing as him.

The overall feel of this case was pretty dark compared to the tutorial cases found in the trilogy, and that's something that I thought was exciting. It's such an absurd idea to have the defendant totally turn on the defense and accuse them of the murder that THEY are on trial for, but it's also such an Ace Attorney thing to do. It's crazy how Phoenix, even though he was the defendant, proved Kristoph's guilt seemingly without much effort at all; it's clear he had it planned from the beginning. My expectations were definitely subverted. I myself wasn't sure what I was doing when I pressed Kristoph's profile, and holy crap, I was so confused when it turned out it was the right answer.

I think it's logical to assume that Kristoph is coming back; they certainly have set that up. But under what circumstances, and why? Those are things that I'm so excited to discover later on. I also can't wait to hear about this trial "seven years ago" that keeps getting referenced. Overall, this was a crazy opening case, and it has gotten me super excited to push forward!

Anyone know an English dubbed anime similar to Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, or Zero Escape?

(Not detective conan. Not listening to some kid say "case closed" at the end of every episode.)

More questions about Trials and Tribulations that I forgot to ask.

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 08:55 AM PDT

    1. Why does Godot seem...indifferent about seeing Mia again? He was more shocked seeing a ghostly vision of her than see her in a somewhat physical form. Maybe he couldn't tell that it was Maya being channeled or something.

    2. Why does misty fey have dawhlias hairstyle when Godot kills her. It's been established that when someone channels a spirit, their face, clothe size, and body type change but everything else stay the says. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/aceattorney/images/1/1c/Godot_With_Elise%27s_Cane_Sword.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width-down/180?cb=20190621054836

    3. Do you think Misty Fey know she was going to be killed by Godot or was it a somewhat act of betrayal on godots end? Godot didn't need to kill dawhlia/misty but he did it because he felt like he needed to for his own sake. It felt like a last minute decision from the why Godot described what he did. Cmiiw, but Godot doesn't even show remorse or awareness of what would happen to misty who his the mother of the person she loves.

    4. How does dahlia not know who channeled her? Also she would have to do is take a glance at her clothing and hairstyle and know that someone else channeled her.

    5. Why didn't Glen just sell the Mc bomber himself and pay off his debt?

    6. What was the point of breaking the psych locks on that one girl (I forgot her name) at the place Glen works at.

    7. Was the murder of Glen premeditated or not? How was el tigre supposed to know that Glen would be trying to win the lottery during the meeting? It's weird that he was fully prepared to murder by bringing poison, coming up with an elaborate scheme when I don't think tigre was going to know what will happen.

    8. How did they know kudo was going to visit the restaurant at that time when the fake Glen showed up? What if he showed up earlier and say El tigre there?
