I love this franchise! (despite just getting into it)

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 09:54 PM PDT

    Hello there!

As you may have read from the title, i'm a newbie to the franchise. I was looking forward to play some of the games eventually.

Two days ago was when I finally downloaded the 3DS game including the first three entries on the trilogy, and i'm enjoying it so far! The cases are great the way they progress makes them worth playing.

I've only played through the tutorial and the entirety of the first main case but boy do I want to play more!

I'll post my progress here, as I plan to not only play the trilogy but all the games in the franchise.

Thanks for reading this and stay tuned!

    Worst/Best Defendants (AA1-6 Spoilers)

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 05:26 PM PDT

I'm not counting main characters (Maya, Edgeworth, etc.)

For me, the worst ones are Maximillian Galactica (2-3) because he's a pedo, Wocky Kitaki (4-2) because he's uncooperative but for literally no reason, and Damien Tenma because wtf was that being a yokai thing.

Best defendants would be Matt Engarde (2-4) because having a guilty defendant is a great concept and he's just so fun to take down, Lana Skye (1-5) for being an uncooperative defendant done right, and Terry Fawles (3-4) for making me cry.

I'm just curious which defendants people love or hate throughout the series, so share your own favorites and least favorites below!

The Sad Story of Jack & Jill

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 11:49 AM PDT

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 spends a lot of time solving the mysteries of the past. The IS-7 Incident, SS-5 Incident and the presidential conspiracy are all major events that take up a large portion of the game's runtime. It's all compelling stuff, with plenty of drama, revelations and fascinating characters.

Two characters who can get lost in all of this is Jack Cameron and Jill Crane.

For reminder's sake, Jill Crane was a defence attorney, the victim of I2-4. Pursuing "The Conductor" of the auction, Blaise Debeste, for his suspected role in the SS-5 Incident, Jill sought justice for the murder of Jack Cameron.

Jack Cameron was an investigative journalist and photographer. He was also the late boyfriend of Jill Crane, and "officially" the sole victim of the SS-5 Incident. Suspecting the illegal activities of Blaise Debeste, Cameron was on the Chief Prosecutor's tail. The evening of the incident, Cameron visited the Happy Family Home orphanage, suspecting Blaise of colluding with owner Patricia Roland. During this visit, he inadvertently witnessed the aftermath of President Huang's assassination. Catching Blaise and Patricia moving the president's corpse, Cameron sent a voicemail to his girlfriend, Crane. While describing the scene, the president's body double snuck up behind him and killed hm with a brick to the head.

In the aftermath of Cameron's murder, the three co-conspirators sought to stage the scene of the incident, in order to make the scene line up with the kidnapping as described by Cameron's voicemail. This resulted in the cover-up of a presidential assassination, branding it an attempted kidnapping with a single victim - Jack Cameron.

During the investigation, Chief Prosecutor Debeste tampered with the evidence, hoping to sweep the incident under the rug. To solve his murder, Jill Crane took on the case of her boyfriend's murder. She was the defence attorney of the suspect, Patricia Roland. Thanks to Blaise's cover-up, and Jill's defence, Roland was found not guilty and the case went unsolved. However, Jill suspected Blaise of having a hand in the case, taking up her boyfriend's investigation.

It's a tragic bit of irony that Jill, in her attempt to bring justice to her boyfriend's killer, managed to get the accomplice found not guilty.

Years later, Debeste and Crane came to prominence as members of the Prosecutorial Investigation Committee (P.I.C). Jill's friend, Justine Courtney, joined the P.I.C to help Crane find justice. During this time, Roland was found to be the culprit of I2-2. Crane planned to, once again, take up her defence.

However, the evening before the trial, Jill Crane was tipped off by a certain mastermind about Blaise Debeste's illegal activities. When attending the black market auction he was present at, she confronted him. Unfortunately, Blaise was also made aware that Crane was on to him. And so, she was murdered by him.

It's a truly sad fate for Jack and Jill. In the pursuit of a corrupt law official, Jack Cameron lost his life simply because he was in the wrong place in the wrong time. Worse still is the fate of the late defence attorney. While pursuing the 3 responsible for her boyfriend's murder and cover-up, Jill Crane inadvertently got one of the accomplices declared not guilty, thanks to manipulation by another accomplice. Finally, the day before she was set to defend the accomplice for the second time, she was murdered by the other accomplice.

The SS-5 Incident and its subsequent investigation truly failed Jack Cameron and Jill Crane. They weren't simply disposable corpses, but victims of circumstance. They got closer than anybody to solving the mystery of the case and were murdered for it.

I just Finished Rite of Turnabout and. Wow...

    Posted: 15 Sep 2020 02:52 PM PDT

This is like, a final case level-quality, plot twist everywhere, all the time, Tahrust not being the culprit was easy to guess, same for the whole Steel Samurai thing, the Dragons being good guys too, and several other plot twist, but put together, it's just so powerful.

    Wow.

Not only does it contribute to the story by expanding upon the Dragons, having Rayfa, a central character, question her morals, and revealing Apollo and Nahyuta's Backstories a little, but it's just such a good case in itself, without the context, Phoenix makes some progress against the DC act, and my favorite thing about it is :

PHOENIX AND THE PLAYER MAKE MISTAKES

My favorite thing in Ave Attorney I'm when I'm confident I've found the truth, present evidence, get the music to stop... And later see the screen turn black around the protag as I realize I've been wrong all along.

This is also the first double murder, Bonus point for being on chapter 3 of course, something once really been waiting for, and the conclusion wasn't boring :

About the first victim, I was mistaken about :

The killing order, who the first victim was, where he was killed (before getting into the hideout at least), who killed him, whether or not he was a rebel

That's already several plot twists just about him, the High priest's suicide was also completely unexpected and a really exciting answer (although it was pretty obvious he acted suspicious on purpose)

The Guilty verdict raising the stakes even higher was also pretty cool

I like that case do much because it tries so many things, a double murder, a sympathetic killer, which is not new but rare, a first guilty verdict, being accused of two murders in a row, Maya channeling a victim, a suicide....

The first trial was only pretty meh, the Divination was atrocious and there was a lot of BS, and the rebels testimony grew tiresome since he wouldn't stop lying... But that's completely outbalanced by the good IMO

Just wanted to share my opinion and discuss it with y'all, best filler case in the series with 2-2 IMO

And the best part is, I was spoiled that Beh'leeb played a major role and was a Rebel, and I still enjoyed the case so much...
