Character Review #4: Some Dark-Horse Characters

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 08:12 PM PDT

Okay now I'm going to be reviewing some side characters that have become unexpectedly popular with the fandom. Now this is also a somewhat subjective term, so my apologies if I left some out of the list. Here are ones that I notice are pretty popular, at least from what I have seen. Please let me know if I got it wrong for future reference.

    • Tyrell Badd: Easily the best thing about the first AAI game besides Lang. Everything about this dude spells "not screwing around." And his backstory is pretty sad also. A man who spent nearly his whole life trying to hunt down the woman who ruined everything for him.

    • Luke Atmey: Ah, Luke Atmey. A detective who just wants love. Zvarri! This guy is just hilarious. He's one of those characters that's so self-centered that you can't help but find it laughable.

    • Shelly deKiller: A one-case villain so popular he actually came back for a much larger role in AAI2. What I love most about Shelly is that he is a very mysterious assassin yet he makes it so obvious that it's him. In AAI2, his disguise is blatantly shrouded in his calling symbol (a seashell), yet literally nobody knows it's him until later on. Also he is nearly emotionless, and any emotion he does show is not seen on his face, but rather an object he is using.

    • Datz Are'bal: I'm not a fan of Khura'in as I've stated numerous times. However, I'll admit Datz was the character I was least "meh" on besides Dhurke. He's pretty much the Larry Butz of Khura'in, only without the apparent love for women. In other words, he's a loveable idiot who keeps getting into trouble.

    • Aura Blackquill: The sister of Simon Blackquill who kidnapped Trucy for a guilty verdict on Athena. Aura's hatred towards Athena is because she views her as a "spoiled princess". She obviously had a very personal connection to Metis Cykes, the long deceased victim. My opinion on Aura isn't as high as some of the other ones listed, but I do think she is a great side villain nonetheless.

    • Dhurke Sahdmadhi, Sister Iris, Lana Skye: See my review on final case defendants here

    • Adrian Andrews: A poor girl who was manipulated by two horrible men and lost her manager whom she felt very attached to. She almost contemplated taking her own life because of this loss. Adrian is one of the best examples of a tragic character that you just can't help but feel terrible for. Her cameo in T&T, while somewhat butchered was definitely well earned.

Alright, I'm not sure what to do next, but I'll probably think of something. I hope. Until then, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    Meme idea

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 11:33 PM PDT

If it doesn't already exist someone needs to make a "A always has been" meme for the big moment in the middle investigations case (I assume anyone who has played the game knows the spoiler I'm reffering too). It couldn't be more prefect for it. I'd do it my self if I knew how to edit pictures like that

Us Amongst the Ruins (Fanfic, Rated T, Edgeworth/Maya, Post T&T)

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 07:55 PM PDT

Hi there! I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here (if it's not cool, please feel free to take this down, I won't take offense) but I've been writing a fic lately that I'm really proud of and I wanted to share it! This is my first real attempt at longfic, so I'm excited to see where it goes!

    Here's the link to AO3!

That said, it IS a bit of an unusual/unpopular ship, so if it's not your thing, I totally understand. There is a Franziska/Adrian subplot to this one as well. Lots of beloved original trilogy main characters will make appearances throughout, too!

As of right now, it's only got three chapters, but I've been trying to update on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. If you're into slow-burn, distant-acquaintances-who-respect-each-other-to-lovers, healing from trauma and realizing they have more in common than they thought, then this might be for you!

I'm open to feedback, so feel free to tell me what you think :)

    Miles Edgeworth Investigations 2

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 04:26 PM PDT

I'm from Europe and my Nintendo can't run the patched ROM that I found online. Is that because the ROM wasn't "European"? It worked perfectly on the Android Emulator.
What could I do to make it work? I really wanna play it on my DS.
    Thank you!

What are your thoughts on them changing Suspense after 6 straight games of using the same 2001 theme?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2020 12:21 AM PDT

Suspense is a significant song in the OST because (IIRC) it used in all of the first six games, including the two Edgeworth spinoffs, and unlike most recurring non-letimotif songs like Pursuit, Cross Examination etc, it never got updated. The same one you hear in the very first game is playing in Investigations 2.

Until Dual Destinies when they finally updated it. For me, I prefer the 2001 theme, not only because it's better (the updated remix sounds more intimidating/suspenseful in contrast to the single-instrument 2013 version), but because the song kinda developed a legacy for being a constant throughout the series.

    What are your opinions.

Was a new game actually confirmed?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2020 09:30 AM PDT

I'm in the crowd of people that don't think that Ace Attorney is dead and I genuinely think we'll get something at TGS this year, but I swear I've heard people say that they confirmed at the very least that a new game was being developed (possibly might've been said during the 2018 TGS). Can anyone confirm if this was actually said or if it's just misinformation? Thanks!

(Sorry for the billionth post about a new game. I genuinely think we'll get one, I just wanted to ask about a rumour).
