If you had to kill an ace attorney character (Take in consideration that you can on only kill characters whose last known status implies that they're alive as of the in-game date of September 2028) who would it be and why?

Is Athena Cykes a competent lawyer? *Spoilers*

    Posted: 26 May 2020 12:32 PM PDT

I understand people want Athena Cykes to have a greater role for Ace Attorney 7, but to me... I just feel like the whole reason for it is because she is in the lawyer position and with the Wright Anything Agency, and not much else. People argue Athena hardly has any room for growth because her arc actually did finish in Dual Destinies. And what's worse, I kind of feel that Athena still has the fear of courts in her brain leaving expert attorney's like Apollo and Phoenix to take the stead instead. Making Athena having the badge kind of pointless and I just can't help but wonder why she still holds the badge.

I understand that she's dying for development, to get her to reach the maximum potential to top Phoenix and Apollo, and a villain that gives the motivation to what she is today from all she had learnt from her co-workers plus psychology.

If I feel that Capcom does decide to give Athena her role as a star in the legal world, then sure. I'm neutral. No complaints about it really.

    What do you think?

Which is the path of justice?

    Posted: 26 May 2020 12:59 PM PDT

I have a bit of a dilemna. I really want to play The Great Ace Attorney (DGS) but I don't have a Japanese 3DS to play it on, much less mod it into English, and I'm not sure I ever will. However, I found a really good gameplay series on Youtube that plays it in English without the commentary. I went through the first trial, but now I'm doubting myself. Should I continue watching someone else play it for the story, or should I hold out until I miraculously get my hands on a copy and play it myself for the experience?

Question about Shelly (major spoilers for both JFA case 4 and AAI2 case 5)

    Posted: 26 May 2020 03:45 PM PDT

I finished all the 2D games in the series and Shelly showing up in AAI2 reminded me: why hasnt he been arrested yet? In JFAs last case they know he kidnapped Maya and held her hostage yet he comes back a year later in AAI2? He managed to escape on the first case in AAI2 but how did he get away in JFA? I dont remember much from JFA, the only motive on Shelly's part i recall is getting an acquital for Matt Engarde

Also, before taking his leave on the first case of AAI2, he tells Edgeworth he has seen everything and knows the truth but he showed that he actually knew little portions of the the whole scheme Simon plotted

Looking to remake the Dual Destinies soundtrack in the style of the first 3 games

    Posted: 26 May 2020 09:36 AM PDT

As the title says, I'm looking to remake the Dual Destinies soundtrack in the style of the first three Ace Attorney games. It's part of a personal project I'm doing to "demake" Dual Destinies into a style like the first 3-4 games. As such, a soundtrack is needed, and I've been looking for such pieces.

    Example 1: Modereto 2013

    Example 2: Court Begins

Plot/Twist Ideas?? (And the first case in a thing I'm writing)

    Posted: 26 May 2020 12:47 PM PDT

Posts pop up asking about this sort of thing every once and a while, and they're my favorite thing in the world, so I'm making my own. Please share your own ideas, and I'll share a few of my own.

I'm writing a giant play by play for my own series of fan-cases right now, but highlights include:

A first case where (similar to DGS), the protagonist is the defendant, and not an attorney. The panicked beginning involves their actual attorney and friend getting called to something apparently very urgent as the trial's about to start, leaving you a request to delay the trial with his badge, him dropping everything he has and rushing to pick it back up as the bailiff calls for the beginning of the trial. Then, a fade to black as he repeats "everything's fine" to himself, until he's interrupted by "Is the prosecution, ready?" and instinctively responds to it, only to realize that he's in the witness stand and it's already started.

Once the judge realizes that the defense is missing, you go to present the delay request, but realize that it's missing and that he'd dropped it in the lobby. Suddenly though, there's a massive commotion: It's explained that due to the murder happening on the border between two countries, that there's been debate as to which jurisdiction it falls under, and it's been recently come to that the other country is the one that should be in control of the trial: leading to the entire jury, judge and prosecutor being replaced, and the evidence being badly transferred to them.

In that moment, the protagonist realizes no-one is looking down, sees the door and thinks he might be able to run to the lobby to pick up what he dropped, but halfway to it, hears the gavel come down as the new staff takes position, leading to him jumping straight to the nearest place where he could act natural, the defense bench. When the judge then asks those present to introduce themselves, due to the evidence and info being mishandled in transferal, it's up to the player to instead present the attorney's profile, and then the badge, leading to the protagonist pretending to be his own attorney and defending himself, at first just to delay, but soon realizing that he might even be able to prove his own innocence himself.

So that's my dumb stuff. I have the details of how that case actually goes from there if anyone's interested, but just wanted to share the thing that I've spent my lockdown time writing.
