    AA7 wants and don’t wants

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 11:11 PM PST

Wants - More than one case with Athena as the attorney (would be happy with Athena being the focus the entire game) so she "can prove herself to Simon" or whatever she said at the end of SoJ. Preferably with Simon as co-counsel - More Psyche-locks, I like them better than perceive and just slightly better than the mood matrix. Maybe Phoenix could lend his Magatama to Athena - Shake up the formula a bit. Idk how, but something. The defendant being the killer in 2-4 is what made it so great, so maybe something like that that goes against the fundamentals of the series - More cases please lol I love ace attorney - Apollo showing back up in the US, probably in the last case

Don't wants - It turns out after Apollo lived in Khura'in somehow after being born to Thalassa Gramarye but before meeting Clay and visiting the space center he actually developed a miracle cancer vaccine but his adopted doctor mother was murdered in front of him but he never brought up or even hinted at anything related to this. (Seriously, no more Apollo backstories, also maybe no more parents getting killed in front of their kids which final cases seem to be so fond of (literally every single final case except for 2-4 (1-4: Gregory in front of Edgeworth, 3-5: Misty in front of Maya, 4-4: Drew in front of Vera, 5-5: Metis in front of Athena, 6-5: Jove in front of Apollo (also Dhurke but it wasn't in front of him))) - Another new lawyer to take away from Athena's development unless it's done well - One day trial cases again (seriously, think about it. No "case" in SoJ had two trial days. 6-1, 6-2, and 6-4 were both one, 6-3's two trial days were different murders, 6-5's two trial days were not even related) - Nahyuta

Do we have any news or leaks or literally any info on AA7? Asking because I haven't found anything after some research, but I'd assume there'd be something after 2 years and the original trilogy being remastered so often

What is the chronological order of Ace Attorney games?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 12:10 PM PST

I saw https://www.reddit.com/r/AceAttorney/comments/4t3jly/what_order_to_play_the_games/ but it stated in one of it's comments the chronological order is:

    1. Dai Gyakuten Saiban: Naruhodou Ryuunosuke no Bouken (The Great Ace Attorney: The Adventures of Ryuunosuke Wright)
    2. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
    3. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All
    4. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations
    5. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
    6. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth
    7. Gyakuten Kenji 2 (Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth: Prosecutor's Path)
    8. Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
    9. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies
    10. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice

However, if Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations comes after Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, why would it state on the Fandom wiki of Ace Attorney "In the defendant lobby, Mia Fey was very nervous."? She died in (I think) the second case of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. How's that possible?(Fandom wiki page I used: https://aceattorney.fandom.com/wiki/Turnabout_Beginnings)

Ideas for localized DGS names (if it ever does get localized)

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 10:16 AM PST

I didn't play DGS or DGS2 yet so please be spoiler-free! This is one reason why I haven't done many characters.

Since the original Japanese names for DGS reference their descendants, it would be fitting for this to be the same if the game ever gets localized in English. My sources of information are from Wikipedia and the Ace Attorney Fandom Wiki.

Japanese names will give the surname first, with the exception of Japanese names meant to sound English, and English names will give the surname last.

Naruhodō Ryūnosuke (成歩堂 龍ノ介) - Cornix Wright

Ryūnosuke references his descendant's name Ryūichi (and a partial reference to Apollo's Japanese name Housuke), so I tried to make this fit with the name Cornix to go with Phoenix.

In Greek mythology, Cornix flees from Neptune who tries to (sexually) assault her, and Pallas Athena transforms her into a crow.

So, Cornix Wright references the bird connotations with Phoenix, has implications of Athena, and also can give a slight callback to Apollo, as Cornix is similar to Corvus in terms of species and name, and Corvus was a raven/crow that served Apollo.

To make Cornix's existence work in the storyline of DGS, he would be a Japanese-born-American with a major in English literature.

Auchi Taketsuchi (亜内武土) - Cryan Payne

Taketsuchi and his descendants all have "take" somewhere in their name, and in English the Payne brothers share a "vowel + n" structure to make a pun out of their names (Winston Payne, Gaspen Payne).

It would be fitting to call him "Cryan", which is a real Irish surname. However, (from what I gathered on the fandom wiki) Taketsuchi can't speak English, so I don't know how that would work, and I don't know if that is actually relevant to the game's plot, but for now let's say that he can't read English as he needs to re-check his eyes.

Sherlock Holmes (シャーロック・ホームズ) - Doyle Carruthers

Okay, I get that Sherlock's name is already English, but from what I heard before there's still some copyright in America over the Sherlock Holmes stories.

I don't know if changing the name would allow the game to get localized, but it's worth a shot! Doyle is from Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of the Sherlock Holmes novels. Carruthers is a British surname containing an anagram for Arthur.

Still, if this guy was the reason why there's no English release for DGS then that makes me sad.

Names that will probably stay the same but may change under certain circumstances

Susato Mikotoba - I mean, if the game still takes place in Japan if it's ever localized, she still would be Japanese, right?

Apparently, according to the wiki and from what I can gather (please only read ahead if you completed DGS 2), she disguises herself as a defense attorney called Naruhodō Ryūtarō in place of Ryūnosuke, I think, so she might be called "Susanix Wright" in English, or something

Iris Watson - Her name might change since we've already got another relevant character called Iris, but the Japanese version sometimes repeats Japanese names so I'm not sure if this would be that big of a deal.

Probably all the other names will be the same (unless they are English witnesses?)

So there's that, I guess! If there's any inaccuracies, such as name relevance to the plot, then I apologise on behalf of me having not played DGS.

    Capcom, hire me.

Does the game pull too many pucnhes?

    Posted: 01 Feb 2020 02:10 PM PST

First off, im working through AA trilogy on the ps4 right now, and im on the third game. Please don't spoil any future cases for me. Secondly, i might put spoilers for the first 2 games and some of the cases in the third game, so theres a warning.

Anyway, I just wanted to say I feel like the game is a bit stale. It just doesn't do anything all that exciting most of the time. Your defendant is always innocent, and the real culprit is immediately obvious. Very little about this changes from case to case. The game seems really scared to get any blood on the characters hands. It feels very black and white most of the time.

Compare this to Danganronpa, where the culprit for any case is much more difficult to arrive at via metagaming. Sure, ace attorney is a better franchise overall than Dangling Grandpa, but danganronpa is at least never stale. The solution is interesting, even if its stupid.
