Posted: 16 Sep 2019 11:41 AM PDT ...and we got nothing. Not even a port. I don't know what else to say. We don't know anything about AA7 other than its happening, and its been three years since the last main game release (about the same length between the releases of DD and SoJ). I know we should be patient since AA7 is being worked for more powerful hardware than the 3DS, and the lead director/writer of the last two main series games, Takashi Yamazaki, has stepped down, meaning they had to find a replacement. But come on, not even an announcement to at least say, "it's in the works"? What are everyone else's thoughts on this? [link] [comments]

Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies - Strengths and Weaknesses Posted: 16 Sep 2019 12:21 PM PDT In this current series of posts I'm doing, I will list what I believe to be a major strength, minor strength, minor weakness and major weakness of each case in each Ace Attorney game (excluding VS and DGS 2 since I haven't played them). (note - I obviously believe most cases don't have exactly two strengths and two weaknesses, this is just a fun, brief way of reviewing each case) Case 5-1 (Turnabout Countdown): •Major Strength – a courtroom bombing is a really good concept for a case. •Minor Strength – Mood Matrix had a pretty good introduction here. •Minor Weakness – given 5-3, Athena really should be more competent than she is here, and she really should've been the main lawyer (not Phoenix). •Major Weakness – Tonate is a fairly poor culprit for me. The only positive I have with him is the bluff with the bomb he does at the end. Case 5-2 (The Monstrous Turnabout): •Major Strength – the twist that Damien Tenma was the Amazing Nine-Tales is really good. •Minor Strength – Damien and Jinxie are good characters. •Minor Weakness – L'Belle shouldn't have revealed as the culprit at the start. •Major Weakness – Filch. Case 5-DLC (Turnabout Reclaimed): •Major Strength – Orca defendant, orca cross-examination, orca backstory. I love everything orca-related here. •Minor Strength – Marlon is one of the best sympathetic culprits in the series. I like how they show, not tell, his sympathy by having him take the blame for Jack's murder at the end. •Minor Weakness – as much as I love Orla's cross-examination, I can't overlook the fact that it's completely unnecessary. •Major Weakness – DePlume is a pretty uninteresting character, in a case where all other characters are solid in their own right. Case 5-3 (Turnabout Academy): •Major Strength – Hugh is a well-written character with many layers. •Minor Strength – despite being cheesy, I actually really like the friendship theme in this case. •Minor Weakness – I have mixed feeling about Robin's 'transformation'. •Major Weakness – I think this case tries a little too hard to incorporate the Dark Age of the Law. Case 5-4 (The Cosmic Turnabout): •Major Strength – Yuri Cosmos is a really good witness. •Minor Strength – the ending sets up 5-5 really well. •Minor Weakness – Phoenix is an idiot in the second investigation. It is so obvious Athena is somehow related to the Cosmos Space Centre but when she denies it he's like "Oh ok". •Major Weakness – Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaangh… Case 5-5 (Turnabout for Tomorrow): •Major Strength – Aura Blackquill's actions make her a really good antagonist figure and are by far the best part of the "Dark Age of the Law" plotline. It shows how people have been driven to extremes by the failure(s) of the legal system. •Minor Strength – the bad endings in this case are (for me) by far the best bad endings in the series. They're dark, realistic and really make you feel like you've failed. •Minor Weakness – Apollo's arc in this game is a poor excuse for drama and in my opinion is poorly executed at the end here. 6-5 did Phoenix VS Apollo way better in my opinion. •Major Weakness – When Maya is kidnapped in 2-4, Phoenix is (obviously) incredibly worried, but when Trucy is kidnapped here he's nowhere near as worried. He really should've been written to be more worried. •Extra point – I like the Phantom's final confrontation a lot (especially the "Starbuck moment") but the Phantom himself is a very mediocre final culprit. Easily my second least favourite behind Alba. Please remember, these are my opinions :) [link] [comments]

If Defense Attorneys are banned in Khura'in, then why do the prosecutors there still have jobs? Posted: 16 Sep 2019 01:57 PM PDT In American, Japan, and the rest of earth, the reason a prosecutor exists is to refute a defense attorney's claims that the defendant is innocent. In Khura'in, though, defense attorneys are outlawed for supporting criminals and the identity of the suspect is determined through the Divination Seance. Because of this, what's even the point of a prosecutor anymore? All they do now is state the obvious, which we can already get from Rayfta's insights. I know Kura'in wasn't always like this, but after the DC act, shouldn't more things change? Because of the Divination Seance, Prosecutors, Detectives, and even police investigations before the trials are rendered completely useless because the insights can reveal all of that in a much simpler way, at least for murder cases, that is. (But let's be real. Murders are the ONLY crime that happens in the AAverse) And I know that Insights are flawed, but it is forbidden to question an insight anyway, so that point doesn't work anymore. At this point, why is there a trial for anything if the verdict has already been clear as day and everyone is in agreement? Shouldn't the initial arrest just be the same as conviction in Khura'in? Ace Attorney Trilogy physical copy? Posted: 16 Sep 2019 09:34 AM PDT They only released in Japan but you can change the language to English. The physical copy is pretty sick and I'd be willing to throw out some extra cash money for it Did they already get eaten up from when it first released or is there somewhere I can buy it still?
