| Why are there no escapades for Resolve? Posted: 22 Sep 2021 09:45 PM PDT I really can't complain about the brilliance that is Chronicles, but I feel a bit silly for waiting until I had finished Resolve to play the escapades, because I thought they would include spoilers for it.... but I can now see they're all focused on the first game instead. Personally I would absolutely love some escapades so we can see more character interactions like Iris and Van Zieks, Van Zieks and his apprentice, ect... Maya states she doesn't know Japanese and how Japanese culture is foreign to her, Phoenix describes the writings in the Kurain Village as "Chinese characters", and "Fey" strikes me as a Chinese surname. Yet, the game contradicts the supposed Chinese ethnicity narrative by explicitly pointing out the Japanese influence. The seven-branched sword for example, they don't even try to dance around its Japanese origins. And I think the temple in Bridge to the Turnabout is explicitly referred to as a Japanese temple. | [JFA] Does the series get better after this? Posted: 22 Sep 2021 02:37 PM PDT Hello. I'm playing through the trilogy (and maybe the rest of the series) for the first time. However, after reaching JFA I've started to burn out a little bit. This game, so far, seems like such a massive drop in quality from the first game. 2-1 was annoying and full of logic flaws (yeah, the guy didn't write the name because HE BROKE HIS NECK AND DIED, it's because he spelled the name wrong) 2-2 was kind of cool 2-3 however, has been really annoying so far. I got to the second investigation but have just run out of motivation to play. As a whole, JFA feels like a step down from the first game. Does it get better after this or is this how the rest of the series is going to be? [link] [comments] | ||
| Any thoughts on the unused music in Chronicles? Posted: 22 Sep 2021 10:06 PM PDT One of my favorite things about the Chronicles DLC is that not only does it include unused music, but also the composer's comments on why they were cut. I only wish there was an option to sub them in with their official counterparts sometimes! Are there any unused themes that particularly stood out to you? I was surprised by the unused Stronghart theme, which has an entirely different vibe and (major Resolve spoilers) does a much better job at hiding his true nature, while his absolutely phenomenal official theme gives away his evil almost instantly. I also find the unused Court Begins theme fascinating, since it's a remix of the AA1 court begins theme and...very much doesn't fit the vibe of Chronicles, haha. It's still super fun, though. I also really love Susato's unused theme. Probably not better than the one they went with, but still really cool in my opinion. Kazuma's original theme is also interesting to listen to (albeit hugely inferior to the one they went with), but more interesting is the reason why they cut it - Takumi apparently said it sounded like the music that'd play in a public bath. | List of Trilogy Cast's Japanese Pronouns Posted: 23 Sep 2021 12:30 AM PDT Since I'm someone determined to share as much Trilogy Trivia as possible, here's a new thing, in the form of the personal pronoun all the characters use. Note I may have missed some instances where the characters change, I didn't check through the entire script, but these are the pronouns used by all the characters generally. (For those not versed in Japanese, this guide by the great Clyde Mandelin explains pretty much all of it)
