I finished Chapter 3 of TGAA Adventures

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 04:03 PM PDT

I have to admit, so far The Great Ace Ace's attorney plot is becoming one of my favorites in the series, but I'm only on chapter 3 of adventures so things can always change.

But I loved how both Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 have gone against what I normally expect in Ace Attorney games.

So chapter 2 starts with your friend dead, kinda starting similar to Mia in AA1, except that after a whole chapter of pure investigation and no trials, we conclude it was just an accident, the one crime was not his murder but trying to cover it up.

Chapter 3 surprised me on many levels, first was being introduced to the Jury system, I've seen it in the trailers and there was something similar in Layton vs Wright but I liked how it works here, I also definitely liked the fact that no matter how much the trial progressed, I was just raising more questions but no answers were being answered and it was becoming more and more clear that the client was guilty. Reminded me of Matt Engarde from AA2 in that sense, there are not many Guilty defendants in the franchise.

Since the Lord Chief Justice put me in charge of the trial as a test, it meant that Ryunosuke had to win to get approved as a lawyer, he obviously couldn't lose the trial, right? Well, yes, but I absolutely loved the way it was done, at the end of the day it was a pyrrhic victory and Ryunosuke doesn't think it should have ended like that.

About Van Zieks as a prosecutor.....I like him so far, while the dude has obvious racism against Japanese he doesn't let it interfere with his opinion of Rynosuke if he shows his logical skills in court, I also like how competent the dude seemed in the entire trial, he was always 10 steps ahead in his research without pulling stunts as Edgeworth did in the first game (Updating the autopsy report) I want to look further with him as the prosecutor.

Well, I'm excited to keep playing the rest.

Something the anime did better than the games

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 12:53 PM PDT

I'm an advocate of the anime as I believe it's a very nice add-on for the games. One of the things the anime did really well was to make Morgan Fey even more despicable and evil. I won't spoil anything but the anime adds scenes that really make you detest Morgan even more so than in the games. So if you're on the fence of whether to watch the anime or not, hopefully I've given you that little push to go ahead and watch it!

My Idea For AA7/Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 08:46 PM PDT

About a day ago, after making some posts and comments about hypothetical AA names, it inspired me to come up with a hypothetical AA game, especially since AC:AA is something I'm hoping will be a reality. I've tried my hand at case concepts when making an Asinine Attorney game idea, but it was far less detailed than this. I'd like to hear your feedback and whether or not you think a game like this could work.

Any potential spoilers throughout the post are hopefully minor, but the final case has some more major SOJ spoilers, so be warned.

Before Jim could get her, she killed him and realized she could frame Ed for the crime to help her win her lawsuit. She didn't realize that the law firm went through some renovations, and Ed's old office was now Austin's. Just as she set the body up in Austin's office, she heard Ed come in, and as she escaped, Ed discovered the body and suspected Austin. While Ed did hire criminals, he wouldn't tolerate them committing crimes in his law firm due to the lawsuit and allegations against him, so he called the police believing Austin killed Jim.

    Quincy Bickle, M, 31

A self-employed defense attorney previously employed at Ancho Law Offices, he claims to have gotten the job to stop corruption in the legal world, and bring justice to criminals that get away with their crimes..

    Culprit

    Quincy Bickle, M, 31 & Quinzelle Bickle, F, 31

Four years ago, Quincy and Quinzelle's brother, Quinton Bickle, was put on trial for the murder of their father, Quagmire Bickle. Despite them believing in his innocence, Quinton got a guilty verdict due to the judge, Arnold Luger, being bribed. A day after the trial, Quincy and Quinzelle went to Arnold's house where Quincy strangled him to death. Quincy forced Quinzelle to help him stage the murder as a suicide, but as Quinzelle was handling the body, Quincy took a photo of her to make sure she wouldn't snitch on him. Arnold Jr. was left to find his dead father, and once news got out, and soon after, Quinton escaped prison and disguised himself as Jim Piper.

Over the years, Quincy lost the photo of Quinzelle, but never told her so she would keep quiet. Quincy began studying law and became a defense attorney at Ancho Law Offices so that if any criminals were put on trial, he would make sure they don't get a good defense. Around the same time another attorney, Austin, was hired, Susannah was fired for looking into allegations of Ed hiring criminals. Quincy helped Susannah out due to her noble intentions and discovered that the new attorney, Austin, had failed the bar exam, and Ed agreed to hire him using fake credentials. Quincy devised a way to get Susannah back in ALO to illegally investigate, but while she was investigating, she found Jim who she recognized as the escaped Quinton.

After killing Jim in self defense and escaping, she told Quincy what happened while avoiding mentioning Quinton, causing him to go to Austin and try to become his attorney so he could purposefully lose and keep Susannah from being suspected so she could continue her lawsuit, while also punishing Austin for faking his credentials. Austin denied and requested an attorney from the WAA.

After Susannah was caught as the murderer of Jim, Ed won the lawsuit and gained all the evidence she had against him. Quincy's desire to bring criminals like Ed and Austin to justice turned Susannah's plan into his own, and after learning Austin was still in town and in need of a job months later, he wrote him a letter in Ed's name telling Austin he would negotiate giving his job back.

The day Austin was meant to meet Ed, Quincy and the blackmailed Quinzelle killed Ed and used preserved items from Austin's old desk as evidence that Austin killed him. Quincy knew Austin wouldn't accept him as his lawyer again, so he pretended to be a witness. He had Quinzelle disguise herself and stay at the crime scene so that when Athena came in, she would attack her and make her unable to appear in court. The attack succeeded, but during the trial, Apollo and the defendant, Austin, served as a defense team. Despite suspicion being brought onto Quincy, he got away, but because the evidence against Austin was disproven, he was given a not guilty verdict.

Quincy decided he had enough now that a falsely-certified attorney had served in court, and he decided to go to his house and stage his death as a suicide. He forced Quinzelle to come with him, and when they met Austin in his garage and saw he had Franziska's whip, Quincy strangled him to death. He remembered how he lost his first photo and could use this moment to make another, so he took a photo of Quinzelle handling the body when she opened the garage door. They both hid and at the same time, Arnold Jr. found Austin's body and called an ambulance.

When Apollo and Athena took on Franziska's case and began to suspect Quincy as the killer, as a last effort, Quincy told Quinzelle to take Juniper hostage, then to claim Quinzelle was the killer so he could get away. Quinzelle kidnapped Juniper, taking a picture as proof, and testified to the crime demanding to let her go free or Juniper will be bombed.

During the trial, connections to past cases were discovered, and when reviewing connections to past cases, it was revealed to everyone that the deceased Jim was Quinton, causing Quinzelle to give up at the realization that one of Quincy's plans had gotten her brother killed. She said Quincy killed Austin and forced her to rearrange the crime scene and kidnap Juniper. Quincy denied this saying his involvement was purely a possibility, but Athena proved Quinzelle's claim was true, getting the satisfied Quinzelle and the devestated Quincy arrested as a search team was sent to save Juniper.

    A Question about Shipping history

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 03:42 PM PDT

I have spent quite some time browsing AA fan content as of late, and I have made a small observation about one of my favourite ships of Apollo/Athena. It seems that quite a large number of people who also have been enjoying this ship have been influenced by an artist by the name of Ticcy. Seems they (and a couple of their compatriots) were quite influential in spreading awareness about the ship in the earlier days when it had been considered more of a rarepair. They could have been considered the ship's captain weathering the storm, if you would permit me the further usage of nautical terms.

This got me interested in a little bit of a fandom history, about which I would like to inquire now - are there or have there been such central figures in any other ships? This does not just mean "a popular writer/artist interested in the ship", but rather someone who could be considered a ship's "face", if you will. As an example, I believe that one of the central fanfics inspiring the Simon/Maya ship has been A Match Made in Neo-Olde Tokyo.

So, do share stories about your captains!

My thoughts after just finishing AJ

    Posted: 19 Sep 2021 11:58 AM PDT

I just truly enjoyed the first and last case, the other cases in between...they just felt like fillers to me.

I have to admit tho, that in this game the music, ambience, and vibe in general is different to the other games.

Overall I felt over the whole plot as if something was missing, something missing that could have made the game of higher quality like the trilogy.
