I think, genuinely, Herlock has become my favorite character in the series.

I'm not even done with GAA1-2, but yet.... This man..... This peculiar odd man. I've fallen in love with him. I would do anything for him.

Great Ace Attorney 2 is fucking spectacular

I just finished case 3 and it felt like a final case. If it keeps with the series tradition of the final case being the best I'm gonna die I swear to god. The reason it took so long to translate was cause Japan wanted it all to themselves

    Kazuma Asougi's character

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 04:48 PM PDT

This man. Where do I even begin?

When we are first introduced to Asougi, he's presented to us as this strong, calm and skilled attorney that fights for his clients to the bitter end, a role model and the best of friends. "He's DGS's Mia Fey", is probably what most people thought about him at first. No? Just me? Oh, okay. Naruhodo worships him as some kind of untouchable God. But keep in mind that, when we first meet him, he's already well-aware of his misson to murder Gregson.

When he "dies", Naruhodo is the only one capable of moving on, inheriting his resolve. Going back to DGS 1, the game drops some hints like when Vortex asks you about Asougi's resolve trying to see how much you know about his own little plan, hints that shows you Asougi's story isn't over just yet.

You spend the rest of the game following in his steps, trying to become that skilled attorney and kind person Asougi was.

Then, when Susato and Ryunosuke finally reunites with him, he's Kazuma Asougi alright. But something feels... odd. His theme in DGS 2 captures that perfectly. A somewhat twisted, more aggressive take on his usual theme.

When you face him as the lead prosecutor, you find out how much he's truly changed. But the more you think about it, the more you realize he didn't change at all.

When Ryunosuke realizes he barely even knew his best friend, he sees just how twisted his ideals are, and how vengeful and ruthless he is. He was never that perfect friend, Naruhodo simply thought too highly of him to notice this nature of his. The one who changed was him all along.

In that moment, Ryunosuke understands the person he was trying to become never existed at all. But more importantly, it's time to stop clinging to Asougi's shadow and help his lost friend. And, in the end, Naruhodo is the one who made Kazuma find himself. That is writing at its peak.

In the end, Kazuma Asougi is the finest example of good character development, and how an obssessive ideal can blind someone from the truth. Good stuff, guys, good stuff.

    Best. Art. Ever.

Winston Payne is a decent guy

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:30 PM PDT

He may have gotten cocky with age, but he's not a bad guy. In 2-1, he tried to protect Richard Wellington from being scrutinized harshly for his condescending delivery and excessive talking. He did that out of the kindness of his heart

The real villain of Ace Attorney is...

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:55 AM PDT

Whoever the hell decided putting an airtight elevator in a municipal building in an area prone to earthquakes was a good idea!!!

What kind of idiot does that!?

And no emergency door release?! What the hell!!!

This was by design, it wasn't filling with smoke or gas, they were running out of oxygen!!!

And they were in there for quite some time, the average elevator holds 8000 liters of air, which if sealed is enough to last a person 33.5 hours. Were no rescue efforts made?! Three people that should've been almost 11 hours of being perfectly fine!

    TL:DR

The elevator shouldn't have been airtight like every other elevator, but even if it was three people should've been fine for 11 hours, which means they were in that elevator for a long time, which seems to imply that no rescue efforts were made.

    Edit:

It seems worth clarifying that I think this was an act of deliberate sabotage rather than an oversight in the writing. Even though it was in fact an oversight in the writing. If Gregory was anything like Wright, he'd have his fair share of enemies.

Just started play GAA, and the thing on Ryunosuke’s hand is driving me mad. What is it?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 09:47 PM PDT

It's like this hand guard thing, and I can't read Japanese… Also, I don't know much about Meiji era Japan anyway, so any information would be helpful! I can't post pictures here unfortunately.
