It passed all expectations, and ngl I'm kinda sad I finished it, it was so good I wish I could forget everything and just replay the games, but it's gonna be hard to forget my easily favorite game of all time.

    The Ace Attorney novels

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:28 PM PDT

Hey all, I just discovered something beautiful!

There are Ace Attorney novels. I discovered them today, just after finishing the main trilogy (What a banger of a game. It's in my top 3 games of all time, surely). And I also discovered some brave souls translated 2 out of the 3 books.

The first 2 novels (Turnabout Idol and Turnabout Airport) can be found here. (online/https format and PDF format) courtesy by SaiyamanMS (not putting "u" to not bother them)

But unfortunately, the third novel, Turnabout of the Time Traveler, has not been translated. I found a synopsis of some "chapters" by tanteikid (here's the link to the post). User Sabotenman said he was translating the novel, but I could not find anything to hold up this affirmation.

Here, at the Ace Attorney Wiki, there's a page for only the novels if you are more interested.

The books are not canon, obviously, but I think it's good to take notice. If anyone has any more information to add to this post, comment, it would be amazing. And if the third book is translated, or is being translated, also comment. All the praise and love to these guys, I just compiled what I found about this obscure AA media.

    The Grand Turnabout Thoughts

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:23 PM PDT

    Spoilers for AAI2 and DD

So I've recently finished I2 and after looking at people opinions online people seem to really enjoy it, a sentiment I agree with. One thing I don't get is why people like The Grand Turnabout so much (TGT). I'm not claiming its a bad case, I thought it was good just not on par with even the previous 2 cases.

TGT felt like is smushed two cases together, similar to Turnabout Revolution. The difference I feel is that Revolution progresses as Part 1 then to Part 2 while TGT goes Part 1, Part 2, then back to Part 1. The flow feels very disorganized and all over. I also hate how Sebastian was shafted.

The set up from the previous case feels like this case will have a great focus on Sebastian and his father as well as the fact his character art being the one representing this case. And to be fair it does focus on him though, for such a small portion. I loved Sebastians bit and I felt bad when he was just left behind. I mean Ray came back from the trial, why not Sebastian too? Then he'd have to face even more of what his father has done. I just feel like they missed the potential in that being the focus or at least to see him with the gang in the end.

Then we get the mastermind, Simon. I just did not care that he was the mastermind. Now a good comparison I can give is to Detective Fulbright. They both are revealed to be the villainous force at the end of the game. I loved Fulbright and my heart sank when I had to choose him to answer who the phantom was. I had known him through the whole game and he was a charming and fun detective. With Simon to me he was just a defendant in the 2nd case, I just didn't really care. I saw someone say, in reference to him, "I trusted him" and I just felt like there wasn't enough buildup to make it feel substantial or like a betrayal. I like his backstory, his theme, and character, all of that, it just felt underwhelming in the reveal.

Now this isn't an attack on the case I thought it was good for the most part and I enjoyed it, the logic chess rounds were good, Courtney and Johns relationship, Langs clan and what happened to the president of Zheng Fa, de Killer and Dogens hands in the case, and again Sebastian showing up his father and growing, and the whole theme of parents and whether to follow in their footsteps. I just felt underwhelmed compared to the last two cases, with I2-4 feeling like the real climactic case. I want to hear what others have to say as I want to understand why people think so highly of this case and maybe understand it better.

And if you do read this and take the time to share your thoughts I thank you for that.

Something I realized while replaying Ace Attorney

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 07:04 PM PDT

I'm replaying the first Ace Attorney game, currently on the final trial of chapter 3, and I noticed something that I never realized as a kid: why was the Samurai Spear ever considered the murder weapon? It's a prop. They're not gonna make a prop spear that can really stab someone through the chest, are they? If they did make it that sharp, then there are a lot of safety issues that are just being completely glossed over.

I've decided to go forward with these polls but I'll space out the next one until the current one closes. This could actually be less one sided due to how some people personally feel about these victims' backgrounds.

So I kinda I like the 3DS games more than the trilogy?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 12:41 PM PDT

(I mean it's mostly because of nostalgia)

My first AA game was the PL crossover game. I played it when I was in middle school, and it's what made me get into the series. Once I finished, I immediately downloaded the demo for SOJ (since DD is rated M) and I never wanted to buy a game more than I wanted to buy SOJ. Never managed to convince my parents though. My next AA game was the trilogy on the switch, and I really enjoyed it! The cases were great, the characters were great, the story was great (especially the first and third games) and I love the soundtrack! After that, I played AAI and AJ, which I also really enjoyed.

But recently, I finally played DD and SOJ, and it felt so nostalgic to me. I had so much fun with the cases and I fell in love with the characters. I especially love Athena and Simon. Their backstories made me really emotional and I really like the found family-type bond they have. I also really love the soundtracks for DD and SOJ (especially SOJ). I know some people don't like perceive and the mood matrix but I had fun with them! Oh and also, I love the animated cutscenes! Again, very nostalgic for me since it reminded me of PL vs PW.

Honestly, the only thing that I didn't like was Apollo getting 50 different backstories, but it's kinda funny to me? Like he feels like someone's edgy middle school OC sometimes and it's just so funny.

I'm not the best at articulating my thoughts/feelings, but I just wanted to show the 3DS games some love!

    Best Ace Attorney character tics?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 01:24 PM PDT

I like how some tics become contagious (I remember Phoenix trailing off his words like Ron De-Lite at one point XD . And I think the same happened with someone catching Solomon's constant sighing). And even as obnoxious and hate-able L'belle was I found myself smirking at his random CAPITOL words sprinkled in sentences at some points as I could just imagine him randomly shouting those words if his lines were actually voice-acted.

So which are your favorites? If I already brought one of your favorites up you can also just talk about why its your favorite, as well.

    >!Disbarred!Kristoph AU + Paranoid!Missing!Klavier AU!< What if Zak Gramarye...

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:49 PM PDT

...decided to hire Kristoph Gavin for his trial? Kristoph is quite overjoyed about being able to face his brother in court and defeating him to show his superiority. Everything goes smoothly during the trial. Until Kristoph presents his final piece of evidence: the forged diary page. Somehow, Klavier figures out that it was forged and tells the court. Kristoph is starting to get worried, but he knows that Drew Misham wouldn't testify against him, and he also claims that there is no proof that the page was forged. However, Klavier decides to get a handwriting test for the page, and the writing on the letter does not match Magnifi Gramarye's handwriting.

Just like in the original universe, Zak disappeared right before he could get a guilty verdict and has Phoenix Wright take care of his daughter, Trucy. After the trial, Klavier is upset not only because his first trial was a flop due to not finding the truth, but also because his brother that he had looked up to had forged evidence. He felt betrayed because he thought it was going to be a fair fight between two brothers. However, he also felt sad because he would be responsible for Kristoph losing his badge. While Klavier is thinking about what just happened, Kristoph is seething with rage at the fact his own brother not only publicly humiliated him, but also got him disbarred.

As Kristoph goes to visit his brother and confront him, Klavier is secretly following him instead of being in his office because the last person he wants to see is his brother. Klavier overhears his brother talking about getting his revenge and contemplating murder. Horrified, Klavier starts thinking about packing his things and getting far away from Kristoph as soon as possible. Unfortunately, he can't go directly into his office because that's where Kristoph is heading. Therefore he decides to wait until Kristoph knocks on the door and ring the doorbell and eventually leave. Kristoph does all those steps, except for leaving. Instead of leaving, Kristoph calls up Klavier, and Klavier's phone rings.

As soon as Kristoph heard Klavier's phone ring, he slowly turns around to see a nervous Klavier behind him. Of course, Kristoph had known all along that Klavier was following him. Kristoph looks at Klavier with his creepy smile and his menacing stare. Knowing exactly what that means, Klavier panics and sprints all the way to the forest in Los Angeles, while Kristoph chases after him. Eventually, Klavier is able to finally get Kristoph off his tail because it was getting quite dark, making it hard to see in the ominous forest. Despite Klavier losing Kristoph, he knew that he could never go back to his home, and that he would always have to stay hidden if he wanted to have even a small chance of survival. The next day, the news headlines said, "Rising Prosecutor and Rockstar Klavier Gavin Gone Missing." There were also many posters with Klavier's face saying, "If you see this man, please call Kristoph Gavin and return him to his brother who has been saddened by his precious brother's disappearance."
