Hi r/AceAttorney! We made a board game you guys might like - All Rise: The ridiculous party game of courtroom debate!

Hi r/AceAttorney! We made a board game you guys might like - All Rise: The ridiculous party game of courtroom debate!

    Hi guys!

We're Rough Draft Games, a small board game company of 3 best buds hoping to publish our first board game with help from Kickstarter!

After ~2-3 years of work, we're finally launching our game, All Rise, now on Kickstarter!

    https://preview.redd.it/bmyap50vgp651.png?width=771&format=png&auto=webp&s=7b3c2e6ea5b15cd528edcc5e0a662cbaeeb0db04

All Rise is the ridiculous storytelling game of courtroom debate, intended for 3+ players. Two attorneys argue their side of wacky courtroom cases by weaving strange evidence pieces to tell their narrative. You'll play in front of a judge, jury, and even key witnesses (like the local Milkman or the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World!). All Rise is similar to other story-telling type games like Super Fight or Red Flags!

We've poured so much creative energy into this project and are really excited to bring this game to life. If you're interested in checking the game out, head on over to our Kickstarter Page!

We've been fortunate enough to have already fully funded the game. At this point, we're trying to reach some awesome stretch goals, like a real-life gavel!

Even if you can't support the campaign yourself, please spread the word and share it with your friends. We appreciate all of the help we can get and hope more people get to enjoy the game as much as we do! The last day of the Kickstarter will be July 16th, 2020!

    Thanks again and happy backing!

    - Tom, Garrett, and Jeff (RDG)

Is Dahlia really a reliable source about her parents' motivations?

    Posted: 23 Jun 2020 07:43 AM PDT

We know that Dahlia masterminded the fake kidnapping on Dusky Bridge for the purpose of stealing a $2 million diamond as revenge on her father; she claims that her father had no interest in children, which is how Dahlia was able to convince him to leave Iris at Hazakura Temple. We're also told that Dahlia and Iris's father only married Morgan for the sake of the prestige the Fey family had.

In the fallout of the DL-6 Incident, Morgan's first husband took Dahlia and Iris away after divorcing Morgan, and Dahlia implies that Morgan simply gave them up and abandoned them because they had no spiritual power, like her.

Now, here's where I question how much of what Dahlia says is true; while Dahlia states that their father abandoned Iris at the temple, I also wonder: if neither of their parents wanted their twin daughters, and their father had custody of them, why didn't he immediately leave them at an orphanage once the divorce was finalized? Why were Dahlia and Iris even able to live with their father for a long period of time? Why did he leave Iris and not Dahlia? On the other hand, I can't really think of a reason why their father would abandon Iris, so Dahlia may be telling the truth in that regard, but is it really true that their father never, at any point, cared for them?

Another thing I wondered about was why their father was even willing to fork over the jewel in exchange for Dahlia's return since she claims that he never had interest in children, though given that he was married to Valerie's mother at the time, he may have only done so at her behest. But hypothetically, if there was no one to convince him otherwise, would he have still given up the jewel for Dahlia's safety or would he have done nothing and let his daughter be "taken"?

As for Morgan, I'm more inclined to take Dahlia at her word, considering that she has no problems getting rid of Maya, and doesn't seem to have any problems with having Dahlia frame Iris for Maya's murder attempt in Case 3-5. However, given that we don't know much about Morgan prior to her becoming envious towards Misty and resorting to murder to vicariously claim the Master's seat, did Morgan really abandon them for the reasons Dahlia claimed? Misty seems to have left Mia and Maya because the reputation of the Kurain Channeling Technique plummeted after the DL-6 Incident and she didn't want her daughters to be dragged down with her because of this; did Morgan have a similar motivation with leaving Dahlia and Iris with their father at the time, before she became the villain we see in the games?

Those are just things I've wondered about Dahlia's backstory (and they've probably been talked about before since I'm late to the party); how much of what Dahlia says about her parents would you take at face value, and how much would you wager is Dahlia being incorrect or just twisting the truth? Is there some middle ground? I'm just curious about what other people think.
