Pearl is the best character ever no one can convince me otherwise. Posted: 20 May 2020 03:39 PM PDT Something about pearl makes me feel happy when she appears. She is the most adorable person in any game ever. [link] [comments]
Posted: 20 May 2020 04:26 PM PDT I thought what is gumshoes pay like it has to be like in the double digits because he can't afford a ac or a jar of peanut butter and he is pay got lowered a ton by von karma because I think anything she says goes. Maybe 1¢ to 10¢ US cents a month [link] [comments]

AAI-4 deserves the praise it gets, but it deserves so much more Posted: 20 May 2020 06:00 PM PDT I recently finished playing through every Ace Attorney game released outside of Japan and now I'm obsessed with the series, so I figured I'd share my thoughts on one of my personal favorite cases: AAI-4 Turnabout Reminiscence. This won't be a super long essay or deep post, but it will be more than just preliminary thoughts. There are unmarked spoilers for AAI-4 in this post, but this post does not discuss spoilers from any other case or game. First, the cast of this case is fantastic. You have young versions of Edgeworth, Franziska, Kay, and Gumshoe, you are introduced to Calisto Yew and Tyrell Badd, and Manfred von Karma makes a surprising return. The Judge is even a witness in this case! Every single character, to me at least, is enjoyable and are not simply walking tropes like some Ace Attorney characters are. Of course they all have gimmicks, but these characters are more than that. The way they interact with each other is often hilarious, satisfying, or just simply touching. I especially love Gumshoe's and Kay's wholesome friendship as well as the competition between young Edgeworth and young Franziska. Some of their dialogue in this case is among my favorite in the game ("I guess short people have feelings too"), and I think AAI is especially strong with its flavor text. The setting of the court room and the music of the case is fantastic. The court house is standard in every Ace Attorney game, but this is the first time we really get to experience it in a new light by investigating it. We also don't see the court house for the first three cases of AAI, so it finally making its appearance makes it more of a surprise. That surprise combined with the opening 20 seconds of the court theme sets the tone perfectly for the case. It is both somber and foreboding, a drastically different tone from the typical court theme in the main series games. This case, while having hilarious flavor text and truly enjoyable character interactions and questionings, is very dark and twisted, and the music works wonderfully for its purpose. Manfred von Karma makes his appearance at the beginning of the case, which also comes as a surprise. In the context of the Ace Attorney timeline it makes perfect sense, but seeing him again is genuinely surprising because of his complete absence from AA. It's even more surprising if you played Apollo Justice before AAI since that did away with almost every character from the original trilogy. Manfred's role in this case isn't major, but he sets the historical context of the case and seeing his influence in the court house builds him as a character and gives us a better understanding of the relationship he has with Edgeworth and Franziska. Speaking of which, a common criticism of this case is that Miles von Karma behaves as Miles Edgeworth in this case, and I agree to an extent. Edgeworth's characterization isn't totally accurate to what we know about his past, but I can chalk some of up to it being his first case and not fully committed to the von Karma philosophy yet, as well as the writers not wanting to alienate the player if they haven't played AA1. Interrogating the Judge is great. That is all. Calisto Yew is a great culprit and her murder plot is enjoyable to uncover. She doesn't have any of the trademark suspicious characteristics of usual Ace Attorney culprits other than being quite rude. I personally thought the culprit would be Tyrell Badd based on his name, so I was surprised. The additional information that Calisto is the Yatagarasu is also a twist that goes against the information that you assume to know by the end of case 3, which throws a wrench into your perception of where the game's overall plot is heading and leads nicely into case 5. AAI-4 also isn't a very long case, which I appreciate. It doesn't overstay its welcome and it lasts the perfect amount of time for me to stay engaged the entire way. Lastly, finally getting definitive backstory on why Gumshoe is so loyal to Edgeworth is just nice to see. Their dynamic (and their characters in general tbh) is one of the best parts of the original trilogy and it saddens me to no end that Gumshoe is absent in the modern titles. Currently, AAI-4 is one of my top 5 favorite cases in the series. I think I rate it much higher than most, but I wanted to share why I think this case is fantastic and that others should give it some more appreciation, too. [link] [comments]
