A thing I appreciated for the first game

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 10:34 AM PDT

Realism.I know, I know ,the ace attorney games are usually not the most realistic game. However, beside the ridiculous, unrealistic court law system and spirit channeling and maybe the parrot cross examination ( I know there was a case solved by a parrot witness in real life). There isn't a lot of things that are too over the top or unbelievable. For example, the murder method are nothing too complex,it doesn't have a Rube Goldberg plan to kill someone. The mystery comes from the cover up of the culprit in trial. The witness and the culprit felt more human compare to the series ( Their personality is something you can see in real life, with a few exceptions). The animation is also more natural,
a simple expression to convey emotions, thoughts. The damage and breakdown animation is doable for someone who got triggered or lost their mind. The general atmosphere are lighthearted, it's felt like you're just a lawyer who's doing your job with the 4th case being the most personal to you in the game. The plot is very simple with only case 2 and 4 being plot-focus. While the first game may have not age that well to some people but the first game should deserve some recognition for being a stepping stone for the future installment.

How would you react if Capcom decided not to work on anymore Ace Attorney titles? *Spoilers*

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 01:43 PM PDT

I would be pretty stunned and kind of sad that they scrapped any future potential for the series. But I would try to write my own Ace Attorney 7 if that's the case. I know Capcom has been keeping quiet for next titles of their franchises to come, but for Ace Attorney, it's something else. If Capcom decides that Ace Attorney should be a low priority compared to their next titles recognized more such as Resident Evil and Street Fighter, chances of having Ace Attorney revived might not be on their list. Again, this is just a possibility I'm considering if Capcom chooses not to work on Ace Attorney anymore.

TL;DR, I'm okay if Capcom chooses to quit on the series, given that I have my own Ace Attorney 7 to share. But if Capcom does have ideas for Ace Attorney 7, then I'm in.

What would be your reaction and why?

Favorite Cross-Examination Theme in which game of the Original Trilogy? *Spoilers*

Which do you think has the best feel, emotion, drive, and stuff depending on which is executed better in a case and stuff.

To me, my pick would normally be Ace Attorney 2, but I think I'm going towards Ace Attorney 3 for now.

    Finally started DGS: a Post-Case 1 Writeup

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 11:45 PM PDT

So, with weeks of quarantine edging me into depression, I've been needing something new to sink myself into, and so I finally decided to do what I've been putting off for ages and start up The Great Ace Attorney. Just wrapped up Case 1 now, split across a few sessions.

... I was not lied to. That was one hell of a long first case.

I liked it. The script could definitely run too long in some places, with a lot of fluff that could've been cut without losing much, but overall, I thought this was a nice little introduction to the first few members of the new cast I'll be following throughout this game. I especially look forward to seeing how Ryūnosuke (who will henceforth be referred to as "Ryu") differs from Phoenix or Apollo. ... He certainly looks enough like a fusion of the two of them.

This case had fun witnesses, good testimony segments, and a nice little mystery. I don't think I have a ton to say about it besides. From this point down, I'll just be including some remarks and general observations of mine from the time I spent playing the case, in chronological order.

    • This is the last situation in which I need to watch a guy who serves food coughing directly into his open palm

    • These character animations are delightful, though

    • Why does Sargeant Soldierperson make a baby noise

    • Ryu is very cute

    • Love the contrast between Asougi's wrist-breaking desk slam and Ryu's little baby slap (he'll learn, I'm sure)

    • Oh, Ryu addressed the baby noise. No real answers, though. Truly, this is the mystery that will follow me to the end of the game

    • and now the baby appears, and still no one addresses it for at least a few minutes longer

    • Ahh, there's the first of the racism I've heard about

    • Ooh, is that a gameplay mechanic from the Layton crossover I see? Sure hope that makes a return in some form in the main series

    • Ah, yes -- that "shah-tahp" is very convincingly English-sounding

    • Sudden, intense "extraterritorial rights" flashbacks

Just starting my journey, got a quick story question about first game, first case. (spoilers for that case)

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:38 AM PDT

Talking about Ace Attorney, First Turnabout, Larry Butz's case.

I've completed it, and after the 'what actually happened' part, I was left with a question: what about the door? How did he enter the apartment? Was the part about Larry leaving the door open true, at least, in his testimony? In this case, why did Larry have the key (and why didn't he close the door after him)? Or, if that's not the key, did he just break the lock or something? If that was the case, the police should've been able to note that, but they didn't, which makes it more likely that the door was opened 'normally'.

How are the Ace Attorney games after ToT, and are they worth the buy?

    Posted: 22 Apr 2020 09:25 AM PDT

Just finished the Ace Attorney Trilogy on the Switch and was blown away by how good it was.

I noticed that there's a lot more sequels and I was wondering if they're worth the buy and the same level of quality as the trilogy, or just shameless money-making games, riding off the Ace Attorney name
