Who is the best tag-along character

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 09:01 PM PDT

Who was everyone's favorite character to have follow them around, even if it was only for a single case or even just part of a case?

Unfortunately, I can only give you 6 options so here are some honorable mentions:

    • Pearl Fey
    • Mia Fey
    • Rhoda Teneiro
    • Cammy Meele
    • Rayfa Padma Khura'in
    • Dhurke Sahdmadhi

Not sure whether or not to include Apollo and Athena in this since you also play as them, but they do follow you when playing as the other or as Nick.

Disclaimer: I've only played the officially translated games at the time of posting this and so I'm completely blind to characters in the DGS games and AAI2, though I intend to change that soon.

Sorry if your favorite tag-along isn't included. If I missed anyone please let me know and I'll update the honorable mentions.

Why is everyone in Ace Attorney, specifically the Wright Anything Agency, related? *Spoilers*

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:11 PM PDT

Besides Athena, pretty much everyone has a weird tendency to be part of a family. Even though their surname says otherwise.

For example, but the terrible father he is, Dhurke adopts Apollo. Making him Dhurke's foster son and thus making him the son of royalty. That would also Nahyuta Apollo's foster brother/childhood friend despite while being touching, doesn't have his surname changed. Apollo is still named Apollo Justice, not Apollo Sahdmadhi for some reason. But even then, we also get Trucy Wright. Who I actually accept being part of the Wright family even though she's adopted, I felt that it was more complete compared to the rest.

Heck, even in Investigations 2. It also has it's fair share of the deal. Amy Marsh is John's mother, married to the president of freaking Zheng Fa. Di-Jun Huang. That makes me question why his last name isn't Huang, but also Justine Courtney is Amy's cousin. Adding more confusion at best. Justine Courtney is supposed to be related to John and she adopts him as her son despite being related, that would automatically mean that John's name is John Courtney.

Going back to Spirit of Justice, Apollo is supposed to be the foster brother of Nahyuta and foster sister Rayfa. Even though his surname sticks. If Dhurke is supposed to be his foster father, then shouldn't that make Amara his foster mother? Or that Thalassa is supposed to be once Thalassa Justice before moving on with Thalassa Garamarye? Through my lens, Apollo isn't the son of royalty in my point of view because like I said, his surname sticks. I could've wished that Capcom had made it simple and made Apollo just Trucy's half-sister and not all this instead.

And I'm kind of disappointed and upset for saying this, but Khura'in didn't fully specify how surnames in the royal family work. Amara and Ga'ran Sigatar Khura'in for example, are one other. But also Inga Karkhuul Khura'in the III as well. If we know that Dhurke was once a legendary attorney in the Kingdom, then wouldn't that make his name be Dhurke Sahdmadhi Khura'in one time? Before I think that he and Nahyuta were expelled from the royal family, but Nahyuta had to work from the underground to help the Dragons?

I feel like Wright Anything Agency during the AJ time skip certainly paid well with all the drama surrounding family members each. Especially if it's evil for one of them to be taken away if they were raised and grew up with. Like Apollo reacting to Dhurke's death even though he really isn't his Dad. And Rayfa reacting to shock that Ga'ran and Inga aren't her parents, but she still thought that Inga was a good father.

What do you think of this and why?

P.S. I've seen other posts about an "Ace Attorney family tree" or something. Stunning to see how many characters can connect with each other in such a long-running series.

P.S.S. Forgot to mention about the Hawthorne twins. They're both in the same Fey Clan, but they don't have Fey into their surname. Which may be related to their true father, but no so much for the Feys anyway. Barring the Troupe Garamarye.

I just finished AAI2 and have to say that the mastermind was a real magnificent bastard.

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 01:42 PM PDT

So, I finished Ace Attorney Investigations 2, and really loved it. I liked how much it subverted the expectations from the previous games.

The last case in particular, was the best case in the series so far for me. Normally, the trials often has our heroes going up against a powerful authority figure (like Manfred Von Karma, Damon Gant, Quercus Alba or Blaise Debeste). So, the odds are stacked against us.

But the Grand Turnabout had a really nice twist to the formula. It was the final culprit, Simon Keyes who was going up against influential, powerful individuals and he almost pulled it off. His targets included a President, a former Chief Prosecutor, a Prison Warden and a bodyguard of the said President. He managed to eliminate every single one of those targets with relative ease. And in that process, he pissed off a hotshot Prosecutor, a Judge, an Assassin and an Interpol Agent, among others. And still nearly got away with it all.

The last showdown was another glorious battle. Simon standing up against a group consisting nearly all the characters to appear in the game so far (at least those who are alive and free). And he was still playing with them and pushing their buttons by attacking their insecurities and even mimicking them at times. To play everyone like a fiddle for the duration of the entire game and even fool the player with his nervous, innocent guy routine was an impressive feat. The fact that he outright calls us out for falling for his tricks is really quite cool.

AAI2 is now my favorite Ace Attorney game (I haven't played AJ, DD or SoJ so far though) and it's sad that we won't get a true sequel to this.

I’m going to talk about an Ace Attorney character very vaguely, guess who it is.

There could be a movie about him, but it would probably be considered extremely controversial.

Looking for an Ace Attorney video on youtube

    Posted: 14 Apr 2020 11:03 AM PDT

I'm pretty sure it was called "Objection 2". It played one of the pursuit themes. I'm not 100% certain but I think it was the one from Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. It would keep switching back and forth between the defense and prosecution, with a new attorney each time. I'm pretty sure it had everyone that had a voice clip in any of the 2D games. It ended with the Judge looking shocked and saying something along the lines of "Uhhhh..... Overruled...?"

I can't find the video on YouTube. It's probably been unlisted or taken down. If anyone has a link or happened to have downloaded it before it was taken down, could you please let me know?
