    Mysteries About Ace Attorney?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 04:08 PM PST

Does this series have any mysteries surrounding it? Like, weird stuff being found in the games that doesn't really have much explanation or things surrounding the characters that we don't know much about?

Why do you guys like Klavier Gavin so much?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 02:05 PM PST

I honestly just want to know what you guys think, cause he seems to have a cult following in the community. I mean, yes, he is sexy, he has a great theme, and he has some pretty cool animations, but he has a host of problems. He has very little depth, he doesn't have a backstory, and he doesn't really change/go through an arc in AJ. I mean like, he's not even a good rival, as he's always on top, and Apollo never surpasses him in skill. Idk, I just want to hear what you guys think, why y'all like him so much?

Fun little idea on how they could possibly replace the Penalty system.

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 05:28 AM PST

I always felt the penalty system in the games was kind of weak. Everyone I know just saves and loads when they get something wrong, which makes it more of a chore than an actual punishment. At the same time, there has to be some kind of penalty system so that you don't just try every piece of evidence without any regard. I was thinking about how you could balance it and I think I came up with something that would be neat:

Reputation meter. Please hear me out. I don't think a reputation should have any real effect on gameplay, except that you might get some different dialogue depending on how high or low your reputation is. These games don't really do multiple endings or split story paths and getting a low reputation shouldn't effect how you can progress through the game.

But rather, it can be used for bonuses. So say that you earn more money at the end of a case depending on your reputation, and a really low reputation earns you barely anything so you want to keep that reputation high. Then when you get that money, you can buy extra's! Alternate costumes for the characters, maybe the menu is in the form of the office so you can buy extra stuff to put on the desk to customize the main menu a bit, buy an in-game radio so you can choose to play different tracks during gameplay. Just all kinds of bonus things with the money you earned, incentivising you to avoid making mistakes.

I think it could be a more interactive version of the penalty system without losing what people like about it, and without making the game braindead. People always say they like the penalty system for moments such as being threatened with a really big penalty for when you get it wrong, so in this reputation system, you could still be threatened with a huge drop in reputation for getting things wrong, plus the satisfaction of seeing it go up by a lot when you get something right on your first try. And like I said, it could have the occasional alternate dialogue too.

What do you guys think? Would you enjoy a mechanic like this? What else would you add to a reputation system? I'm genuinely curious if my idea is trash or not, heheh.

    A few questions...

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 07:23 PM PST

    1. One of my friends that is just finishing the first game in this series has told me that I am a lot like the protagonist. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

    2. Should I start playing this series myself. I've played games that are considered similar; Danganronpa, Zero Escape etc

    3. Are there any games that aren't considered necessary to play, or does each spinoff have some importance to the overarching plot?

How does Phoenix say "Objection" in the Japanese version?

    Posted: 13 Dec 2020 09:21 AM PST

The Japanese word for Objection is "igiari." However, when I listen to Phoenix's Japanese voice clips from the trilogy, it sounds nothing like "igiari." Am I hearing wrong? What is he saying?
